Immersive dolphin and whale watching mission on a secret boat – Trincomalee

Description
Our experienced crew will take you to where you can observe the friendly Spinner Dolphins in their hundreds as they play, dance and show off their acrobatic skills. The best time to see them would be from May to September. If you arrive between March and May, you will be able to catch a glimpse of Blue Whales and Sperm Whales that are considered to be some of the largest creatures on earth. Whale watching is one of the most popular things to do while in the east of Sri Lanka during this season. Trincomalee is celebrated as one of the most picturesque coastal areas in Sri Lanka with its white sandy beaches and blue waters. The best season to visit Trincomalee is between May and October. Our crew is friendly, responsible and vastly experienced. We may not offer the cheapest excursions but we guarantee that our crew will be the most dedicated to ensuring that you get to experience the fantastic experience of watching whales in the wild.

At first we weren't that impressed. Our boat driver spoke very little English, despite supposed to be being an English tour! But, he was obviously a fisherman and understood what the dolphins were after and how they ticked, because whilst all the other boats were off on a wild goose chase, he stayed still and spotted them and they swam alongside our boat for 10 minutes without any other boats realising!
Thank you so much for sharing this honest and balanced reflection of your experience. We truly appreciate that you mentioned “at first we weren’t that impressed” due to the language barrier — that’s important feedback for us, and we’ll make sure it’s addressed with the team. At the same time, we’re really glad to hear how things turned around. Your description of how your boat driver — “obviously a fisherman who understood what the dolphins were after” — stayed patient while the other boats rushed off, and then spotted the dolphins so they could swim alongside your boat for a full ten minutes, is just wonderful. What an incredible moment to witness, especially with no other boats around! Thank you again for taking the time to share both the challenges and the magic of your experience. It helps us improve, and it’s lovely to know that the day still turned into something truly special. ~ Anuruddha Bandara | Founder
