Fantastic experience. Fish is a very knowledgeable guide , keeps perfect pace and lots of great information plus tips for self exploration and dining after your. We loved it and also love Victoria!!
Dave and Steven were both interesting and well versed in the sights we were seeing. The pace was leisurely and allowed lots of time for questions.
Our guide Steven ushered us through a lovely brisk walk through the city. He was extremely friendly and knowledgeable. We saw the sights as the sunset and the city lights came on. We enjoyed stories of the local history and architecture.
Our guide Dave was very knowledgable & amusing about the local history & folk legends. Easy pace for families.
An essential experience to immerse yourself in the history of the city, its buildings, monuments, founding fathers, and the people who have marked its evolution from its foundation to today. Julie is a passionate and engaging guide, very expressive and knowledgeable. My son and I had a wonderful morning in her company and recommend this activity to everyone!
This tour provided a great general overview of Victoria’s history as well as the cultural diversity and richness of the city. Julie introduced everyone to each other, creating a warm and friendly atmosphere from the start. She is a very knowledgeable guide who shared many stories while also welcoming questions. She also asked questions so as to be in tune to the group’s interests, tailoring the tour so that everyone got the most out of it. We would highly recommend this tour (and if you get Julie as your guide, you’re lucky!)
Thank you so much for such a thoughtful review! we really appreciate you taking the time to share this. It’s great to hear that the tour gave a strong sense of Victoria’s history and culture, and that Julie created such a welcoming atmosphere for the group. She’s wonderful at connecting people and shaping the experience around everyone there, so we’re really glad that stood out. We’ll be sure to pass this along to her, she’ll love reading it.
We loved our small guided walking tour with Julie. She was as friendly as she was knowledgeable. Just five of us on the tour, which was perfect.
Thank you so much for sharing this! We’re so happy you enjoyed your time with Julie — she really has a way of making the tour feel easy and welcoming. Sounds like you got a great group size too, which always makes it that much nicer. We’ll pass this along to her — she’ll love it. Hope you had an amazing rest of your time in Victoria!
We had an awesome time walking with Ernie. He has lived in Victoria for most of his long life, and he was full of stories. From what he told us, there are a few places that every Iconic & Obscure tour goes, but each guide is given a lot of leeway to add other stops and decide exactly what they want to tell us about. This also meant he could adapt to what the group was interested in. Ernie kept the tour moving at a good pace and knew how to engage both adults and children with questions and guessing games. He clearly loves Victoria. We got a good overview of the city's well-known highlights as well as lesser-known stories. I have already retold the one about the pepperoni in the Empress Hotel several times since I've been home! Highly recommend this tour.
Ernie’s stories tend to stick — the pepperoni one always makes the rounds after 😂 You picked up on it perfectly too — each guide does shape the tour a bit, and Ernie’s great at reading a group and leaning into what people are curious about. Sounds like you got a really good mix of the highlights and the lesser-known bits.
Ernie was a fantastic guide—energetic, engaging, and full of interesting tidbits you wouldn’t typically hear on most tours. He made a real effort to connect with our teen kids, asking thoughtful questions that matched their interests and keeping them involved throughout. Thanks to him, they’re already talking about coming back to Victoria.
That’s awesome — getting teens into it is no small feat. Ernie’s great at reading the room and pulling people in, so it’s nice to hear that landed. And if they’re already talking about coming back, that’s a win.
Wonderful adventure with Ernie.
Ernie has a way of turning a simple walk into something memorable — sounds like you had a good one.
