We did the excursion only fishing on the frozen river. They took us to a spot directly with a minivan, and from there they gave us all the fishing gear... no one caught anything, but none of all the groups! More the cold waiting than the rest! Then we ate by the fire a delicious dish with salmon and bread and finally marshmallows! An experience that could have been avoided, for what we spent, was no big deal!

Nordic Unique Travels has a large office and quickly came into our mind when offering a tour that we wanted to do - ice fishing. Yet, when we entered the office before the tour for exploring other adventures, we got the first feeling that our tour choice may not have been the best. After waiting for 20 minutes in a chaotically organised office, we left the store without any guidance. During the ice-fishing tour, our suspicions were confirmed. Here are my major take-aways: 1.) Organisation: Instead of max 8 people, we had three vans with each 8 people all going at once resulting into chaotic lunch situation as the hut was too small. Additionally, the ice stability only allowed 5-10 people on the lake, creating a short time to fish on the ice (20-30 min). In the end, we came back one hour late. 2.) Guides: There were four guides and all were nice, though not all were able to speak English. Additionally, Nordic Unique Travel seems to be using “interns” (not exactly sure what there position is) who are extremely junior to cover the tours - resulting into varying experiences. The biggest advantage of this being the variety of languages available to the customers. What could have been better? Knowing the conditions and group size, I would have expected the guides/company to check the ice thickness ahead. Following this, each of the 8 people groups could have been given a different time resulting into smaller overlaps, hence longer fishing times and less stress over lunch. Overall, we are happy about the experience on ice though unhappy with the customer valuing. Yet this was not worth the 95€ p.p. we payed for a 4 hour (in reality 5 hour) tour.

The tour you have booked is a grouped tour which means it doesn't limite to 8pax as the maximum, but we ensure to have enough guides assisting in case of hosting more customers. Every year around the end of November, the season is changing, so ice or snow-related tours depend on weather which is out of our control, but safety is always our first priority. We are welcoming customers from all around the world, so we devote to help customers in different languages following their needs, but all our guides can speak at least English. Our team is still glad to hear from you that you have enjoyed the experience on ice. We booked three tours through Nordic Unique Travels during our recent visit in Rovaniemi, Finland. One of the tours was ice fishing. We loved the view and enjoyed the fun activity. It was super cold on the day we visited, so we didn’t hang out too long on the lake. Our tour guide Rami was very welcoming and highly organized. He made sure we enjoyed the experience, stayed warm, and had a nice grill in the little cabin after fishing. All three tours with Nordic Unique Travels turned out memorable and pleasant. Their staff were great in communication. Checking in at our tours were efficient and smooth. Pricing was fair. No matter we were among a small group or a larger group, we never felt crowded or disorganized, and we always received personal attention as needed. I highly recommend them to add fun to your next trip.

this excursion was cancelled by the company 16 hours before the trip started, do not recommend. this was a trio for out last day and felt as though our whole holiday was left disappointed as it was the highlight.
We did the ice fishing and the husky safari with Michal. A very nice and honest guy from Poland who gave us a wonderful day and experience. We felled welcome and treated us as friends. Also when the tour was over he did some nice side viewing stops.. He gave us all the time we need (no rushing) and gave us very good tips about how to spotting the Nordic lights, which worked perfectly! Thanks again for the amazing day Michal!
Guide Ah Hao was very nice, very attentive, took care of us meticulously, we participated in ice fishing and sledding 🛷, have fun, make sure you come back to Finland next time Ah Hao leader, this journey was very pleasant, we were freewheeling, when we arrived at the project, luck met reliable travel agency, good guide, bye - Finland
