Kona is the ultimate whale and wildlife destination. Kona’s calm waters, deep coastlines, and variety of marine life make the region a world-class wildlife location. Our tours leave out of Honokohau Harbor, which has access to both near-shore and pelagic zones. Exploring the near-shore zone, you have the opportunity to see humpbacks during the winter months, spinner dolphins, bottlenose dolphins, manta rays, and flying fish. With a US Coast Guard offshore certification, Hawaiian Adventures Kona can also reach the pelagic zone- something very few tours do. The pelagic zone expands the search into waters thousands of feet deep to look for pilot whales, beaked whales, sperm whales, spotted dolphins, whale sharks, and more! Hawaiian Adventures’ tour durations allow for a greater search range, more time with whales, and more wildlife encounters on every tour!

We had a wonderful time on this boat tour. We got to see whales, sharks and also dolphins. The crew were incredibly kind and very knowledgeable. Very clean and beautiful boat to explore the island and sea.

We were thrilled to find that humpback mom and calf pair! This duo is likely heading out on their migration soon, so we wish them luck on the thousands of miles ahead. Our goal is to show our guests whales and wildlife, and although we had a great encounter with Hawaiian spinner dolphins, the humpbacks eluded us on this trip. We hope you still enjoyed the dolphins and our scenic cruise, and we'd love to have you join us again in the future. We see different marine life on every excursion!
Excellent excursion from beginning to end. The company was on top of weather conditions and continued to keep us informed by text of time change. Shane (owner), Amy (Shane’s daughter) and Pam (our most excellent guide and conversationalist) provided friendly and intelligent information and explanations. The boat was first class with comfortable seating, clean conditions (restroom was immaculate!), plus up-to-date equipment and gracious hospitality. Gorgeous weather, fair amount of waves but nothing too big. We encountered bottlenose dolphins, a hammerhead shark and three humpbacks, two males and one female. We understand that his was somewhat unusual as the migration season ends on March 31 with the pregnant mothers and babies heading back north. We stayed alongside the whales for at least an hour, observing lots of sprays and many whale tails! We highly recommend Hawaiian Adventures Whale Excursions! It’s first-rate!

They were very patient and looking for whales. Saw one just as we turned around to go back but they turned around so we could see it as well.
We work extremely hard to find as much wildlife as we can on every tour! The ocean provides new opportunities every day and Kona has an amazing array of species that we could see. It was well worth the search and we're happy to hear you enjoyed our adventure. Mahalo
Everything was first class…the crew, the boat, the experience. The crew member on the main deck was extremely knowledgeable about whales and the local environment. Her sharing added immeasurably to our experience. Despite it being late in the season, we viewed three whales for about 45 minutes. We are ready to go again. Highly recommend!

Our family had a great whale watching tour with Hawaiian Adventures ! The boat is beautiful and very comfortable with all seats having a great view. It was nice having the option of sitting in the sun or shade. Our young female captain and naturalist were outstanding ! Appreciated the tour starting on time as well as the communication received prior to with directions, parking information, sunscreen instructions etc. We had been on the tour for nearly an hour with no whales in site, our crew kept going further, being determined to find whale for their guests which they certainly did. We saw so many whales, eventually needing to head back. During the return trip we saw a school of spinner dolphins on both sides of the boat as well as underneath! Thank you for persevering on your quest to search out the whales. Appreciated the extra time spent on the boat. Made for a memorable family tour which our grandchildren absolutely Loved. Looking forward to going again on a return trip to Kona. Would highly recommend!!

Had an amazing time and was able to see a pod of 5 competition male humpback whales, dolphins, and a juvenile hammerhead shark. The crew was very knowledgeable and friendly. Truly awesome trip and well worth the cost. If you have a chance to go on this tour, I highly recommend it.
What an exciting trip with that energetic comp pod! It may be towards the end of the humpback season but the ocean has provided some great encounters on our tours. We're so glad you enjoyed our adventure and whale and wildlife encounters!
Tour was wonderful a little patience reaped great rewards. Saw a whale that surfaced for a long time. Captain very enthusiastic and the onboard marine naturalist was very informative. Very good trip worth the time.
Whale watching in the wild sometimes requires whale patience! We agree that it's always worth it to see these cetaceans in their natural environment. We loved it! Fewer whales now this end of the season but we saw a whale breech, and a momma/calf together. It was terrific and the naturalists were so knowledgeable
