Elliott and Delroy were fantastic guides!!! They gave me a lot of cultural and historic insights of Antigua. The bike ride was filled with exhilarating vistas of the island. I will definitely do another one next time I'm in Antigua!!!
FANTASTIC guides, and a great experience! I couldn’t recommend this more!!! 10 stars if they would let me.
This e-biking experience was the highlight of my onshore adventures in the Caribbean! I spoke with Elliott when booking and he was gracious and helpful. On the day of our ride, he, Delroy, Chad, and Blessing guided us through the city and beyond with expertise and professionalism, but they also made it personal and full of good humor. They are great at sharing what makes their island so special! They gave us water, snacks, and cool towels about halfway through. Elliot took lots of photos and videos along the way which he shared with us after. I just can't recommend this experience enough!
This was a great excursion! Delroy, Elliot, and Chad were fantastic guides. They provided history of the island and the notable figures, explained cricket as we watched a team practice, and showed their island from Ft. Barrington to Ft James!
Wonderful experience from start to finish! We covered over 15 miles, and saw so much of the island in a short time, including a cricket game, a charcoal pit, 2 different forts, a beautiful beach, and lots of other places on the island. Delroy, Elliott, and the other 3 were fantastic guides.
Group of 11 adults, some who had never ridden an E-Bike. We all LOVED it! Even though we were on city streets for some of the ride, we felt very safe with all of the guides we had. They even photographed our tour and gave us a link to all of the photos! Highly recommend!
5 stars seems to little! Elliot and the crew were fantastic! They were friendly, knowledgeable, attentive to our needs and safety. The trip through Antigua thru St. John’s to Fort Barrington with a swing by Fort James was spectacular. If you truly want to see Antigua and simply not drive through place to place, this Bike tour is the way to go! I was so glad I did it.
While Delroy was a fine guide and all the men were helpful -my husbands bike broke down immediately with a bad battery and then shortly had a flat tire. He notified one of the guides of the issues -but was still forced to ride the bike several miles on the flat tire. This was really unacceptable. At a minimum I would have thought the guide would have exchanged bikes. His battery died again before the end of the tour. Things happen--but being prepared and attentive is important.
We stayed at the Royalton Five Islands Resort for a week. The location was very good. The resort itself is a little above average. The rooms were average. We had problems with the shower which were never resolved. The resort has a beautiful pool (numerous pools) and beach area. Unfortunately, there was only one bathroom (one stall per sex) to service all the pool and beach area. This was absurd to have only one stall for the entire area. If that wasn't bad enough, on two or three days of our stay, the water to this bathroom was nonexistent, so you couldn't flush the toilet or wash your hands. We found the food in the "specialty restaurants" just average. The food in the buffet was only average with not a lot of variety. The resort was not overly crowded. We found that in Antigua, in general, the service was better if you had brown skin. We had numerous occasions where we were waited on last, even though we were tipping when others didn't. The roads were such that driving would be hazardous in Antigua. The airport was a fiasco! It took us over an hour to wait in line and fill out the immigration forms. When we left, we arrived at the airport 2 1/2 hours before our flight. We had to wait in three long lines to get through all the exit criteria. We literally had to run to catch our plane as it was having final boarding when we finally got through the lines. While the location was beautiful, I am not sure I would want to return to Antigua.
We planned this for early in our holiday to get a better feel for the island. From the outset our two guides were totally on it, preparing the bikes, making sure all of us were comfortable and the batteries fully charged and off we went! I was amazed at how little peddling was required - for long stints none at all, just using the throttle to coast along. We stopped at a Rastafarian site that was not only beautiful but hugely informative of their religion and culture, then off to Dow's Hill and Nelsons Harbour. Fascinating. Final stop was the beach nearby. All in all would 100pct recommend Fat Tire tours, and to everyone of any age, shape or size - and utterly unique way to see the true Antigua
