Sweets & Matcha Experience : Taste a 300-year-old traditional sweet once loved by feudal lords. End your journey at Kokoen, a stunning Daimyo garden, enjoying authentic matcha green tea in a serene setting. 4. Keep Your Bike! The tour ends at Kokoen, but you can keep your rental bike until 6 PM to explore further!

Japanese Sweets We will visit a Japanese sweets shop with a history spanning over 300 years and sample "Tamatsubaki" “Tamatsubaki,” an elegant Japanese confectionery once offered to the lords of the castle.
Explore inside the Castle and learn the history of the castle and the people who used to live there. we will explore the magnificent Himeji Castle, also referred to as Shirasagi-jo, meaning "White Egret Castle." During our visit to Himeji Castle, our local guide will elucidate why the castle is deemed impregnable and renowned for its beauty, providing insights into its architecture, exhibits, and historical significance. Built in the early Edo period, the castle's main buildings, including the castle tower and turrets, are still standing and are designated as national treasures and important cultural properties. In addition, the inner part of the central moat, including the main fortification, is designated as a national special historic site as “Himeji Castle Site. The castle is also on UNESCO's World Heritage List and has been selected as one of the 100 best castles in Japan.
Lunch We will cycle through the historic castle town. We will savor a Japanese lunch at a restaurant located in the castle town. Following lunch, we will proceed to a shrine that offers a picturesque spot for capturing beautiful photographs of Himeji Castle.

Experience an authentic tea ceremony while exploring a Japanese garden. Relax and enjoy a cup of tea in Kokoen, a beautiful Daimyo garden. The name “Kokoen” is derived from “Koko-do,” a domain school that existed near the entrance to the present garden during the Edo period.

- Out of consideration for our other guests and to ensure the best experience for everyone, the tour must start on time.
- Please be aware that if you arrive late, you will not be permitted to join the tour, receive a refund, or reschedule. Please arrive 10 minutes before the tour start time.
- Guests may be refused participation in this tour if they have consumed alcohol beforehand, in accordance with the law.
- After the tour, you are also welcome to continue using the rental bicycle to go for lunch or sightseeing. In that case, please make sure to return the bicycle by 6:00 PM.

Excellent tour. Loved the castle and all the information about its spectacular defences. Guide had amazing knowledge of Japanese history, castles, the families who lived there, the historical context of Japan at those times, very kind, patient, friendly. The gardens were beautiful, enjoyed Japanese sweets, the tea ceremony was beautiful, and again, all made so much richer with the detailed information and historical context from the guide. 10/10. The bike tour to Himeji Castle was interesting, varied, and entertaining. Ayaka explained a lot to us and was happy to address our questions. And she took us to an excellent restaurant for lunch! It was great, would love to do it again!

Our guide Chie was excellent and very patient with all of our questions. Her bright personality really added to the tour. She was thoughtful and as a history teacher she was able to explain things more in depth than most guides I have had. Chie also worked with the bicycle rental shop so we could use our bicycles a little bit longer after the tour so we could explore on outbown. I would recommend this tour to anyone!

We had so much fun on our tour. Our guide was very friendly and knowledgeable about the history of Himeji and the surrounding area. Biking was very fun and the food provided was a highlight! Highly recommend :)
Ayu did an incredible job. Great tour with a lot of history, insights into local culture and nice food and of course sightseeing. Highly recommended.
We rode to the beautiful Himeji castle and toured through it. Then we rode around the town and had lunch at a small, cute little restaurant that had delicious food! We also stoped at a few beautiful parks/temples and a cute little bakery with fantastic mochi. Our guide was very friendly and nice. The only thing I can say is that I though he would know more about the history of the castle and the area. Our group asked a lot of questions.

Magic day with Chie and couldn't recommend more highly. There is something very connecting about cycling around an area and Chie's knowledge and personal touches helped to make this one of the highlights of our trip. And Himejo Castle in cherry blossom season is breathtakingly beautiful.
