Hiking in the Mountains of Mendoza | Epic Views & Hot Springs

Description
Escape the city and discover one of Mendoza’s most rewarding adventures — a hike with epic views of the Andes and Lake Potrerillos, combined with the rare chance to relax in natural hot springs. Unlike standard big-bus tours, I keep groups small (maximum 6 people), so everything feels personal, flexible, and unhurried. The route is not so much difficult as it is just long (6–7h), and most people with basic fitness can manage it well. Along the way there are a few short sections of easy climbing, which most travelers find fun. If you prefer something lighter, we can shorten the route to the first viewpoint — already a beautiful spot — making the total hike about 4 hours instead of 6–7. As a photographer, I can capture the best moments of your adventure with my camera or drone — to keep great memories or blow up your social media.

Alexander picked us up from our Airbnb and drove us out of the city. The hike is a 2 mile ascent and then 2 miles back down. It took about 5 hours. It was challenging, but doable. I would not recommend this if you are sedentary! You will probably fall down a couple times on the rocks. We enjoyed the views and were grateful for the slow pace that Alexander guided us up and down. Afterwards we soaked our sore muscles in the hot springs. We really enjoyed this experience with Alexander who has a fascinating background. Highly recommend!
Thank you so much for your kind review! I had a wonderful day as well and I'm glad you enjoyed everything. P.S. We did a different trail than the one originally planned, without the technical sections, and the hike took about 5 hours in total.
Impermeable for adventure lovers, magnificent views.
This was one of the best experiences we did during our trip in Argentina. I was with a group of 6 friends, and we were hoping to do a challenging day hike in the Andes region. The trek was incredibly fun and rewarding with absolutely breathtaking views — it felt like such a hidden gem because we had the area to ourselves. He made sure to bring water and snacks for us and took beautiful photos for us to take home! The hot springs after were the perfect end, and Alex got us delicious empanadas as well!! Highly recommend Alex and this adventure if you’re in the Mendoza area!
Thank you so much for the kind review! I'm really happy you enjoyed the hike and the whole experience. It was a pleasure spending the day with you all. You were a wonderful group, and I had a great time as well. All the best!
Alexander was an excellent guide. He was very confident in mountain terrain and was very safety aware. He was kind, spoke good english and was very informative when questions were asked. I highly recommend him to anyone who wants to experience a day of adventure in Mendoza. Definitely worth the money!
Patricia, Thank you so much for your kind words! It was a real pleasure to share this adventure with you!
This was one of my favorite days. The views on the hike were incredible! Alex was terrific and provided kind support on the way down. The hot springs were great after the hike.
Carrie, thanks for your review! It was a great day for me too. Glad you enjoyed everything!
The experience was a lot of fun and Alex was very well prepared. The hike can be challenging, but Alex does a good job of ramping it up/down based on your group’s abilities. The short climbing sessions were a lot of fun. Pictures here don’t do the amazing views full justice.
Joel, Thank you for your review! I agree — photos can’t really show what you feel up there. P.S. With the guys we did about half of the full route, finished a bit earlier, and then went by car to Lake Potrerillos.
Excellent! We really liked the walk, wonderful landscapes. We had lunch at a typical restaurant. Very good food
Sayonara, Thank you so much for your kind feedback! I'm really glad you enjoyed the day. P.S. We hiked up to the first waterfall (climing section), where the group realized that the full six-hour trek would be a bit too demanding. So, we decided instead to explore other nearby viewpoints by car — and it turned into a perfect day!
Alexander did such a great job of showing us around Lake Potrerillos. When my travel partner wasn’t able to hike, he easily changed course and provided a great day of driving through some amazing views. He gave great recommendations on lunch place. Also loved being able to experience the traditional mate with alfajores. Alexander also did a wonderful job taking pictures and videos that looked amazing and sent them to us within 24 hours. Although we didn’t hike, it was definitely an experience we won’t forget!
Thank you so much for your kind words! 🙏 I always try to stay flexible — that’s the benefit of private tours, so we can easily adjust plans when needed. I’m really glad you enjoyed the day — even without the hike, it turned into a great little adventure!
Hike was challenging, there were some difficult parts, and lots of slippy rocks especially on the way down. Some sections require climbing up boulders and can be much for someone used to hiking u.s. trails. This trail is not a official trail or anything like that. More of a spot made by the locals over time. Views are incredible and its a very rewarding hike overall. I recommend if you like a bit of a challenge.
Alex, thank you so much for your review! I’m sure it will help other travelers better understand what to expect from this trail. 🙌 P.S. The guys were in great shape 💪. The ascent was a bit unusual, so we made many quick stops, but they reached the summit — 7,283 ft (2,220 m). On the way down, they moved faster than most groups. Total time: 6 hours. ⏱️
We had an amazing hiking experience with Alex! He picked us up right from our hotel and dropped us off at the end, which made everything super easy and stress-free. During the hike, he was so attentive, making sure we had plenty of snacks and water, and he matched our pace perfectly so we could truly enjoy the trek. If you’re looking to hike in the Andes around Mendoza, I can’t recommend him enough!! On top of being a fantastic guide, he’s also a great photographer, he even used his drone to capture incredible shots and videos of our adventure. Oh and don’t skip the hot springs afterwards, it was the perfect way to relax after the hike! TRULY AN UNFORGETTABLE EXPERIENCE! Thanks Alex, Hiba & Thomas
Thank you for your review, Thomas. I also had a great day! For everyone else reading — Thomas and Hiba are in excellent shape and lead an active lifestyle. Together we reached the summit at 2,220 m and returned back down in 5 hours and 20 minutes — a little tired, but fully satisfied.
