The day of my tour the guide didn’t show up. They were able to find another guide who gave a tour an hour later and for only an hour versus what was scheduled. They agreed to provide a credit but one has not been given and I don’t know who to contact to rectify the situation. If you have a tight travel window, there may be better options.
Hello, thank you for taking the time to share your experience, and we're truly sorry for what happened. A Lokafyer no-show is a rare situation but a serious one. The disruption to your day, the shortened replacement tour, and especially the credit you were promised and have not yet received are all things we own and should have handled better. Please reach out to us directly at booking@lokafy.com so we can locate your booking and resolve the credit right away. We'll make sure it's processed and confirmed back to you as quickly as possible. We will also be using your feedback to strengthen our backup and follow-up processes. Reviews like yours are how we identify and fix gaps in our service, and we appreciate you taking the time to share both what went wrong and your concern for other travelers. Thank you again, and we look forward to making this right.
Alex was a very good tour guide and well informed. He seems very proud of Heidelberg and took some nice pictures of us and suggestions for the castle tour. And excellent restaurant recommendation. Very disappointed in Communication with Lokafy,Viator and ALEX. I confirmed and Carol in Germany confirmed all including meeting point. Alex wasn't notiefied until early am and he called me and I were said we would meet at the meeting point, he then headed near hotel and by 10:30 (30 minutes later) we contacted him thank goodness my friend in Germany had wifi to call) and we backtracked and met our guide. you should give our guide and us the numbers ahead of time. Thank you
Alex was Superb...gave us history, quiet facts and stories, personal experiences...we don't like the stock tours and Alex was the best for that. We wish we could stay another 2 days to hear him rap at The Dubliner every Friday at Karaoke! Danke Alex!
The tour was booked and confirmed and our guide never showed. We waited for over an hour with no response after numerous emails
We are incredibly sorry for the frustration caused by this no-show. It is our goal to provide seamless connections between travelers and locals, and we clearly failed to deliver on that promise. We take reports of missed tours and unresponsive communication very seriously and are currently investigating the matter with our local team to address why our protocols were not followed in this instance.
This tour was great! Our tour guide gave us an excellent overview of Heidelberg in the two hours that we had for the tour. If we’d have had a few more hours with her, we would’ve really gotten a more in depth look at this marvelous city. So if you can spare more time, we would definitely recommend it. They will customize your tour however you want. The only drawback was the meeting point that seemed out of the way and a bit obscure, but we soon discovered it was planned for us to meet at the university to start our tour.
A stroll through Heidelberg. Our walking tour of Heidelberg with Alex was engaging and enjoyable from start to finish. He showed us the city's landmarks—like the majestic castle, historic churches, Old Bridge, and the university library- providing an informative description. Even my two teenagers were hooked, which speaks volumes about Alex’s ability to connect with everyone in the group and make history interesting. The breathtaking views of the Neckar River and the city were a particular highlight, offering a moment to soak in Heidelberg’s beauty. Alex’s flexibility was another major plus—he tailored the experience to focus on what mattered most to us and kept the pace just right. Highly recommend this tour if you have the opportunity to book Alex!
What a glorious city! It is so beautiful. Christmas is a wonderful time to see it. Alex was a wonderful guide that was proud of his city.
Unfortunately, this was one of the most awkward tours we have taken. We thought we were booking a tour with a local however that was not the case. Our tour guide, Vince, was supposed to reach out and build off of what our interest might be. That never happened. I did message him that my only request was to see the castle. Unfortunately , that never happened. We took a walk over philosopher‘s way, which was interesting, but our guide knew nothing about it and why it was called that. We had to google it. He also did not check with us to see if this was something in our physical ability…At the end, we stood in the Christmas markets waiting for him for about 10 minutes to make some purchases at a local grocery and then we just decided it was time to call it done. Unfortunately, he knew very little about the area and Somewhat deflected when we asked questions about history. It was obvious he didn’t know much about Heidelberg itself, and in fact did not live there and lived out of town. We requested a refund from Viator, but they refused. Saying we took the tour and we needed to take it up with the local tour company. Very unfortunate since we use them quite a bit as we travel. Moving forward, I will no longer use Viator due to the lack of them vetting who they’re using as their guides. Note that we paid US$100 for this tour. I was lucky enough the next day to get a free walking tour with a local group and That was above and beyond what we could’ve asked for. You simply pay them at the end what you feel it was was worth. So much more information and she is in fact a local and shared a lot of local interest points for us to visit while we were there . We got zero information regarding local interest points from the Viator Guide.
I am sorry to say that this tour was an utter dissapointment. We were promised a customized tour with a local. All this guied did was walk us around the town, barley talking. He knew relatively little about the city and when we asked questions he either made up answers or was wrong comepletely. Sometimes when we questioned what he was saying, he would answer, "it doesn't matter." After walking around he took us to the castle and then wanted us to pay for him to go into the castle and that tour as well. This was after I paid for him to give me a tour! It was the most awkward situation I have ever encountered in using a Tripadvisor tour. I have had great success in the past but this was so very stange and weird. We ended with him 20 minutes short and then he asked for a tip!
I would say that the tour did not disappoint. I had a great time! I booked the tour primarily to get to know the city, and I was very lucky to have a great and interactive tour guide. I would definitely recommend this tour to solo travelers. If you're not interested in historical information, they can customize the tour to suit your preferences.
