Fahad, our guide, picked us up at the requested time and made sure our tour of Nizwa, Jabreen Castle was comfortable ànd enlightening. Having studied in the US for over a decade, our guide spoke perfect English and was easy-going but highly attentive. Don’t miss the Museum of Oman— the building ànd exhibits are amazing!
This tour was so much more than a sightseeing trip. As someone who seeks to uncover the soul of places I visit, I found myself immersed in a world of heritage, history, and warm hospitality that most visitors to Oman would never glimpse. From the moment we left Muscat to the time we concluded, our tour guide Fahad was brilliant and ensured there was never a dull moment! He spoke perfect English, had traveled globally and was incredibly knowledgeable and deeply connected to his homeland. He genuinely made us feel like part of his extended family. Each stop revealed a different layer of Oman’s identity. From the mud settlement ruins and falaj irrigation system, the strategic architectural brilliance of the forts and the sensory stimulating market full of local handicrafts, frankincense, spices and other lovely souvenirs…it all came alive through Fahad's artful storytelling. We also decided to check out the futuristic looking Oman Across the Ages Museum. After seeing centuries-old forts and villages, the contrast was striking! A sleek, immersive, and architecturally stunning space that proudly speaks to the soul of Omani ingenuity and respect for it's unique natural beauty. Even for those familiar with the Arabian gulf region, this tour is eye-opening and there's nothing quite like the authentic cultural experience this trip had to offer. Though it was just a single day tour, we saw so much and left with a profound appreciation for Oman.. and definitely looking forward to explore more of this wonderful country on our next trip!
