Hanoi Dusk Food Tour with 15+ Tastings

Itinerary

60 min

Our evening food tour invites guests on a culinary experience around Hanoi. It's a carefully curated food adventure, led by our team of professional food guides. Before we get started, our tour reflects the local cuisine, & the limitations of street food vendors means we unfortunately cannot cater for every dietary restriction. Here's an honest appraisal for the tour, so no-one is disappointed: ✘ Unsuitable for vegetarian diets sorry, as there would be 3-4 less tastings. ✖️ Unsuitable for severe allergies, halal and celiac diets, due to the risk of traces & cross-contamination. If you are feeling adventurous for a foodie journey, read on!

120 min

By dusk, Hanoi's streets come alive with the clattering of pans and rise of steam as tasty food bubbles and boils in Vietnam's Northern culinary powerhouse. We'll venture outside the Old Quarter, starting at St. Joseph's cathedral, where we'll soon find closely-guarded family recipes for iconic dishes, biting into fluffy banh mi baguette, and slurping on a drool-worthy beef pho noodle soup - all washed down with a freshly squeezed sugarcane juice. Discover why Michelin gave the city a food reputation to boast about, from sizzling bánh xèo pancakes and grilled bun cha pork patties, to wok-fried eel cake and crunchy crab spring rolls. Toss your fork over shredded nom bò papaya salad with beef, served alongside translucent tapioca dumplings.

60 min

All before a traditional bia hoi joint thats been around for decades. Locally brewed beer clinks over garlicky morning glory and tofu drizzled with scallion oil. Amongst more surprises, there's 15+ tastings in all, you'll need an extra notch on your belt by the time we're done with our foodie marathon. Our sweet dessert at the end takes us finally back to the cathedral, dazzling in illuminations by night. You'll end the tour armed with the confidence to order local food across the country, leaving with a bellyful of memories.

Amazing food tour!

Tung is the best tour guide! We had an amazing time and it was very efficiently run and the food stops were fantastic. All the food was great! And tung gave great background on the dishes and history on the city! Would definitely go again and we’re going back to the bun cha shop they took us to tomorrow!

Awesome food tour!

Our guide Tung/Tom was wonderful! He was knowledgeable about all the places and shared a little history of each and how it the dishes were also developed over time and through some generations. We had some unexpected weather, but he was also great about accomodating that as well!

Awesome food tour!

Another wonderful Chef’s Tour! Tung was a fantastic guide, providing important context to all the dishes and stops. The food was delicious and a great blend of familiar and new. Tons of food, but not so much that we couldn’t function after. Really a perfect tour!

Another Chef tour added to my list. Number 4 out of 6 tours.

We did this tour after doing the Hanoi day tour a bit less than a week before and after doing a 3 day 2 night Halong Bay tour. We were pushing ourselves to want to do more eating but you learn so much and have a super great time. The meeting point was ok and our guide Dihlia sent a what's app message with her photo. We were looking for a black chefs tour tee shirt but she was wearing a purple tee shirt which was a bit confusing to start with. However off we went on our 2nd Hanoi tour. Some of the places were the same but mostly different. I like the Bun Cha place on this tour better as it was air conditioned and comfy seating. Dihlia was very flexible as she knew we did the other tour so ordered some different things. My favorite was the pancake and I wanted to eat it all. Dihlia even went looking in the shops so we could buy the pancake mix. One thing I learnt on the two tours is that Pho in the north is quite different to the south, it is a lot clearer and fresher and lighter tasting. It was great to walk in between eating and all the food was great. Weirdly the sugar cane juice was very different to the am tour we had but from the same place. We were very lucky to have both tours to ourselves with the guides as it is low season. We have done many food tours and it is a great way to ease into a place, learn new things and also to skip the que to try the super popular things like the famous Banh y Mama Xin Chao (Mama Bread) the que was massive but Dihlia pre ordered and rocked up to get our order ahead of every one. Chefs tours are amazing value for money, there is a terrific amount of food and knowledge provided. they are super organized and by far the best ones I have done. We have a tour with them planned for Koh Samui Thailand in a week then the Bangkok evening tour after that, which we have done a number of years ago. Thanks to Dihlia for getting us raincoats at the end and walking us home.
