Itinerary
Cat Ba National Park is an exceptionally unique park within Vietnam's national park system, being the first in the country established with both forest and marine ecosystems. As the core zone of the Cat Ba Archipelago World Biosphere Reserve and a Special National Monument and Scenic Site, Cat Ba National Park is a prime example of typical Asian tropical and subtropical marine-island ecosystems. These include primary tropical rainforests on limestone islands, mangrove forests, coral reefs, intertidal zones, cave ecosystems, saltwater lakes, bays, coves, and lagoons. These ecosystems are adjacent and interconnected, creating an incredibly rich landscape and habitat. The park is also the only conservation area in Vietnam and the world that sustains small populations of the Cat Ba Langur.
Located just a 10-minute walk from the Park Headquarters and 1 km south of the National Park's center, next to the road to Cat Ba Town, Trung Trang Cave is one of the largest and most representative caves in the Cat Ba Biosphere Reserve. It is a highly attractive tourist destination, drawing tens of thousands of domestic and international visitors annually. Stretching approximately 300 meters through the heart of a limestone mountain, the cave features countless stunning stalactites in myriad fascinating shapes. Stepping through the entrance, visitors are not only amazed by the incredible beauty and unique natural formations but also introduced to a local legend about Cat Ba Island. They are sure to be impressed and delighted by the spectacular stalactites and the colony of bats hanging within the cave.
Quan Y Cave (Military Medical Cave) is the most unique among the hundreds of large and small caves in the Cat Ba Archipelago area. It not only showcases the distinctive structure of coastal limestone mountain systems but also reflects the extraordinary creativity and combat resilience of humans. This site recorded many glorious victories of our military and people during the years of resistance against the Americans. Located midway up the mountain, right along the island-crossing road, Quan Y Cave was formed by nature and later modified by humans. Previously, it was called Hung Son Cave, named after the young man from Cat Island who assisted the king in fighting the An invaders. During the war, the cave was repurposed into a military hospital, hence the name Quan Y Cave (This is an option; you can purchase your own tickets if you wish to visit.).

Awesome experience, Mong was awesome too!! Lovely tour
Great! Gecko was a wonderful guide. We even had a member of the band who had a drop in tension and he was careful so that she would get back in shape and we could all finish together.
Geko our guide was excellent ; and the trip was very good ; we recommend it
We had a very good experience in Cat BA half day trip with Gecko! We loved his attitude, very good English, very good explanations about what we are about to do or see. Highly recommended!
Interesting tour to a great viewpoint and interesting caves with a friendly guide.
A lovely afternoon hiking around the national park and through some caves. Gecko was a great guide, very friendly and informative. Be prepared for plenty of hiking/climbing - it can be quite steep at points but the views are more than worth it.
Really enjoyable trek. Our guide Mong was very friendly and knowledgeable about the area we were trekking through. The history and role the nature reserve in Cat ba island He also gave us an insight about both the hospital and natural caves we visited. Very good trekking tour. I would recommend this as a good trip into exploring the natural environment of Cat ba island.
We had a fabulous trek up the mountain and Gecko was a very knowledgable guide. I’d highly recommend good walking shoes as it’s a slippery path with the clay soils.
Our half day trek was great. Our guide Gecko was even more amazing, offering excellent insights into local bush food and medicine, knowledge about plants and animals and the local history. We enjoyed ourselves immensely!
We’re more than happy to hear that our excellent guide and the experience somehow went beyond your expectations. That truly means a lot to us! It’s exactly what we hope for every guest who joins our tours.
Good spending for short time in Cat Ba. I myself only had a short time in Cat Ba and I found this a nice tour to see sights. Tour guide Gecko was incredibly enthusiastic and friendly!
