This is your grand entrance to the ancient city. A monumental, three-arched gateway built to commemorate the visit of Roman Emperor Hadrian in 129 CE.
A truly unique and iconic feature of Jerash. This enormous oval-shaped public square is surrounded by a colonnade of Ionic columns. It was the social and commercial heart of the city.
This is the main colonnaded street that runs through the city. You can walk along its original paving stones, which still show the ruts worn by ancient chariot wheels.
A beautifully preserved Roman theater with incredible acoustics. With a seating capacity of over 3,000, it is still used today for performances and is a highlight of the annual Jerash Festival.
Located on a hilltop overlooking the Oval Plaza and the South Theater, the Temple of Zeus was a major religious center. While much of it is in ruins, its scale and commanding views of the city are impressive.

I had Khalid Najjar as my driver for this booking. He shared a lot about the history of Amman and had great recommendations for places to see in the area I was staying in. He organized the pick up, drop off, entry ticket (included in package), and a tour guide smoothly. The tour of Jerash itself was about an hour and a half and my guide talked about the history of the site, ongoing archeological efforts, and about the surrounding city. Would definitely recommend going!
