Communication from the tour company was prompt and helpful. We booked this tour the morning of, and they got back to us within 15 minutes of booking to let us know when and where to be at our requested pick-up site! When we got to the hotel lobby, the tour guide was waiting for us. We had a bilingual tour. Therefore, there was double the speaking. Hector, our tour guide, did an amazing job. The gentleman who drove the bus did as well. Being part of the smaller group that spoke English, I never felt left out (not even when the Spanish speakers asked non-tour-specific questions like about the geology of the area). We visited and learned about all the sites that were promised. We toured the Central Market, which, yes, they have a deal with a particular souvenir shop—which was no problem for me. That tour helped me get a better understanding of the market for a future visit. Dinner was at a tasty restaurant where you get to try “the typical meal of Costa Rica.” So, if you haven’t had it by then, now is a good time. That just happened to be my third. The tour, which I took in late May, concluded after sunset, but that didn’t dampen the experience. I highly recommend this tour! Just keep in mind the time of year you’re visiting. If you’re there during “the green season,” you might encounter an afternoon shower, so come prepared.
Bus was Dirty and Hot No Live Music Show Just walked around outside of government buildings then went to Flea market as a group and could only shop in 1 store so we wouldn't get lost Nothing there for us to buy Dinner was ready when we arrived 8 of us so of course it was COLD. TOTAL RIPOFF
Felt rushed as we experienced heavy traffic after being picked up at our hotel . Resulted in little time at stops. The art gallery and theatre and church were rushed visits and those places were locking doors shortly after arriving. Dinner was our final stop and there was a power outage which meant had dinner in a dark with no lights. We couldn’t see our food but for a few candles. It was unsafe and food was not really edible. The tour guide was really amazing though and I feel bad that he had to support such a subpar experience. I think this company should review their 3pm tour schedule to avoid this happening g to others.
A terrible tour and not worth the money. A drive around San Jose pointing out the land marks, then to an ex president's home to visit some artwork. Around San Jose again and stopped at a market. Sa several stalls I wished to purchase from but was told no, we needed to stay together as a group. Spent 20 minutes waiting for a group to buy food at a stall, then another 25 minutes to buy from the one stall the guide chose and being told you can't explore. The guide stayed in the store the whole time (it was if he was calculating his commission). No explanations of the wonderful produce on sale that is unique to the country, just taken to buy souvenir tack. Then taking to a cathedral whilst the sermon was on. Very disrespectful. Stood outside the cathedral for a speech about it but unable to really look and admire. Taken to dinner. They forgot my order. I was served 10 mins after everyone else had been served and when i received it the rice was not cooked and was inedible. Wasn't given a dessert. Taken to see a lobby of the theatre, not much to see and a plaza, again not much to see. Drove around the town and saw the sights 4 times. I really feel this could be much better organised and more consideration and thought given to the content. Such a shame as there are better things to see and do in the city.
Very informative, the tour guide Enrique spoke very good English he was very knowledgeable, the food was great and very filling I recommend this tour.
Loved that they customized pick up at smaller BnB’s. Double decker bus was a nice touch but not really needed in San Jose. Overall okay.
Unfortunately due to San Jose traffic we were delayed over an hour to get started and required too much travel time in the bus. The driver and guide did a wonderful job making up for the delays
This was wonderful, the exposure to the capital was welcomed. The tour opened our eyes to San Jose and its elements. Value for your money!
Nice way to see different perspectives (evening/nighttime) with a guide. Enjoyed the meal at the end. If you want to see more landmarks, possibly consider a day time tour. Appreciated that a bus was provided
The only excuse might have been that there was a lot going on in the city that day but... The bus was slightly delayed, and yet we had hardly any time at all in the art gallery before it closed at 4pm. Then it seemed we drove around the same streets a few times before being taken on foot through a market, which was a complete waste of time. The cathedral was lovely, but so little time spent there and the lobby, not the auditorium, of the theatre. No other museum, just buildings from the bus. Very ordinary meal, with no chance to chat with the noise. Not worth the high price. AVOID!
