Martin was a great photography instructor and knew the sites and how to compose and use the camera effectively, able to get info across clearly. It was great to get off the beaten path with a local and a genuinely kind person.
Thanks Terah. Its always fun to be out in nature with someone who's keen to learn new skills and appreciates our magnificent scenery.
I had a wonderful afternoon with Martin; he knew exactly where to go to take advantage of the excellent cloud and light conditions, lots of stunning locations away from the standard tourist spots and he offered plenty of tips on how to get the best images. He was also great company the whole way around.
Thanks for kind comments. There are so many directions we can go from Queenstown. We like to decide on the day where the conditions are going to make for the best images.
The half day tour around Queenstown was enjoyable. I’m a beginner and Martin was very patient in sharing the basics of photography. He even gave me a cheat sheet that will surely be handy for future photography trips. Aside from photography tips, Martin also shared history and other trivia about the places we went to (and even some recommendations on hiking trails and local food, as it was my first time in Queenstown). He was also very kind to let me set my action cam out of his sunroof, so I could take a video as we drive along the scenic and winding road of Skippers Canyon. I appreciated that Martin took me up to the view point where we could see the river, even though it was a bit farther away and we were running short on time. Lastly, I had to make some changes to my schedule a few days before my tour date. I appreciated that Martin and Shawn accommodated my requests.
We woke up to a rainy day but Martin turned the day into an exceptional tour taking us to Skippers Road for breathtaking views of the mountains and valleys shrouded in mist, giving us lots of history and so many opportunities for and help with taking great photos. It was a spectacular tour and a highlight of our trip.
I’m so glad you were willing to go out. Conditions change so quickly here and I think the weather made for some atmospheric shots. I’m happy you enjoyed the day.
Excellent photography tour with Martin. Learnt a lot about composition and the art of photography. Took some great photos. Benefited immensely from Martin's local knowledge. Will love to take another tour with Martin and see more of the region.
Thanks for your kind words. Although the weather was ‘INTERESTING’, you were willing to try new things. I think we turned the conditions to our advantage to capture some really moody scenes around Glenorchy.
Martin was amazing - he took me to the parts of Queenstown that not many people know. He was an expert when it comes to composition, leading lines and other forms of photography. He is a great guy to talk too and was very safe when it came to your health and safety during the photo shoot. I would have no problem recommending him to anybody without a doubt a fantastic tour and well worth every $. Thanks Martin fantastic day. Cheers Gary
Hi Gary. Thanks for choosing our tour. It’s nice to discover sights around Queenstown, other than the regular tourist hotspots. I think you got some of those. Cheers
I would highly recommend this tour! My guide was Martin, and he really made my experience wonderful. He drove us around to lots of different beautiful places in and around Queenstown, places that I would not have seen otherwise. He gave me some tips about how to use my specific camera, but he spent most of his time teaching me about composition, which I very much appreciated! I learned so much and I think my photos will be much improved after my tour. I've already been putting the lessons into practice, which shows what a great teacher Martin is! His positive energy was infectious and I loved how excited he got about the photos I was taking. Overall, this was a great tour and one I would highly recommend!
Thank you for your kind words. I am glad you gained so much value from the tour. It’s always lovely to be out with someone so engaged and keen to learn. Good luck with your photography journey.

My wife and I were absolutely thrilled with this day tour. Martin, our tour guide, did an outstanding job. He took us to places that we would not have gone on our own. One such place was Skippers Canyon. We would never have driven that ourselves. The scenery was magnificent! He also showed us photo tips on our smartphones that were very helpful; features we didn't know about. The tour was money and time well spent. We thoroughly enjoyed ourselves. Thank you, Martin. Kind regards, Dave and Helen Horner, Fredericksburg, Virginia, USA.
