Half Day Private Tour in Dominican Republic with Local Guide
Description
If you are interested in knowing how Dominicans really live, their customs, their culture, do not forget to take advantage of this great opportunity. Our transport will pick you up at your hotel, you will start a wonderful trip of approximately one hour until you reach Higüey, the first thing you will do is visit a coffee, cocoa and tobacco plantation, we will explain the process of their harvest and preparation. You will visit a beautiful souvenir shop, made by the owners themselves, later we will move to the cathedral basilica of Higüey, you can enter to enjoy its beautiful architecture. Then we will go to the Higüey market where you can see the local commerce among other things, you will have an incredible panoramic view of the church of San Dionisio, which was the place where the Virgen de la Altagracia made her appearance. Upon returning we will make a brief stop at the beautiful and incredible Macao beach to admire its white sands, at the end our transport will take you back to your hotel.

Itinerary
It all starts with pickup at the hotel to head to our first stop.
Our first stop will be the coffee and cocoa plantation where you can see the process of making these products and at the same time you can taste it. Near the plantation we will visit a family where we can see how the locals live in the Dominican countryside.
In a panoramic way we will take a tour of the La Ceiba neighborhood, a neighborhood of working people in the area.
An authentic Dominican factory, where you can try cigar making in the original environment with the original tools. You can buy Dominican Cigars and, of course, there is a wide variety of cigars, from cheap to premium quality.
Continuing our panoramic tour we will observe the neighborhood of La Otro Banda, one of the busiest neighborhoods in the area since it is very close to the city.
Following our panoramic adventure we will show you the local market of Higūey where locals go to buy basic necessities.
Then, in a panoramic view, we will observe the beautiful and grandiose San Dionisio Church, this monument began to be built in the year 1569 and was completed in the year 1572.
Then we will arrive at the place most visited by Dominicans, the Nuestra Señora De La Altagracia Cathedral. The construction began in 1954 and took 17 years to complete. There we can enjoy that magnificent construction, its beautiful interiors and why not, be able to pray for a few minutes.
Then we return to the Bávaro area, along the way we will see the largest sugar cane plantations.
Our last stop will be at a gift, painting, jewelry store, etc.
Finally we will return to the lobby of your hotel, Airbnb or home.

This was an amazing private tour. You can customize it to fit your needs. Junior gave my me and my husband just what we were looking for.
This was a last minute booking that ended up being well worth it. My husband and I wanted our 3 kids (15, 12, 8) to experience parts of the island beyond our resort. Wellington worked diligently with me to ensure that our needs were met. We really appreciated how flexible and willing to accommodate us personalizing the tour. The kids especially enjoyed our ride through the countryside and visiting the organic farm. We had the opportunity to taste and learn about Dominican coffee, chocolate and other delights. I wanted to share what a wonderful guide we had in Dominica. His name is Roger and he worked on this day for InvaderZim Taxi & Tours. I'm not sure if he also works for other companies. Anyway, Roger was amazing, very friendly, informative and professional. He actually hiked with us around the Fresh Water Lake up in the Cloud Forest as well as taking us to other interesting sites - wherever we wanted to go. I highly recommend asking for Roger when you book your day.
This private tour was the highlight of our trip. Edwin was a perfect guide and we loved everything. Our family learned so much about the culture, people, and the real DR! Edwin was also very open to customize the trip to best suit your interests. The plantation was fascinating to learn how chocolate, coffee, and vanilla begins and we even stopped at a small fruit stand to buy some local fruits. Such an eye opening experience and would recommend over a group trip.

It was so refreshing to leave the hotel environment and get to experience some of the real Dominican Republic. Beautiful lush green scenery, our very knowledgeable guide Edwin was amazing and talked to us about many topics and we shared stories about our lives. All of the places we visited showed us more about the livelihood of real people who live on this beautiful island and are trying to make their way and live their lives. Yes we had stops at places to buy tourist souvenirs but hey, who doesn’t want to contribute to the local economy. It was insightful, we felt very safe and enjoyed every minute of our day. Edwin and Abel were wonderful. We rolled cigars, visited a working plantation in the mountains, drove through the crazy traffic in town and visited a bascilica. We did the private half day punta cana tour and it was AMAZING!!! The tour surpassed our expectations and ended up being our favorite thing we did on our vacation. Our tour guide was Edwin and he was the sweetest human. He was so knowledgeable. He answered all our questions. From the beginning, he made us feel comfortable. We never felt unsafe. Our 4 hour tour turned out to be 5 and a half and Edwin our guide was awesome! He took very good care of us and showed us all of the promised sights and more. This trip was the highlight of our week. Edwin is very knowledgeable. He showed and told us about the economy, health care, education and everyday life in the DR, and answered our many questions about the history of the DR and Haiti. I learned so much. Because it was a private tour we were able to make extra stops (for example to pick up a delicious take-out lunch from a restaurant that Edwin recommended - best meal we had all week), and skip others. We appreciated having this personal touch and conversation with Edwin, while Andry focused on driving us safely to each destination. Highly recommend.
