Agurukaramulla Temple, located in Negombo, Sri Lanka, is a historic Buddhist temple known for its grand six-meter-high Buddha statue and richly decorated interiors. The Dutch Fort in Negombo, Sri Lanka, is a historic site dating back to the colonial period. Originally built by the Portuguese in the early 1600s, it was later captured and fortified by the Dutch in 1644. The fort served as a strategic military base due to Negombo's key location on the west coast, offering control over trade routes, especially for the cinnamon trade. Although much of the original structure is no longer intact, the entrance arch and remnants of the walls remain, now located near the Negombo Lagoon. The site is a popular attraction for its colonial architecture and historical significance.

TukTuk Around the town

Great experience the guide was extremely hospitable and shared great details about the Negombo area and Sri Lanka history. He was so flexible when we asked for detours like the fruit market. Although it was overcast we had a great time and would highly recommend this tour!

Fun, friendly, and interesting

Had a great morning tour today with the family. As we have two teenage girls (15 and 17), tours need to get the balance right, a bit of history, culture, food and fun. We all loved it all, and learnt a lot about the many religions in Sri Lanka, the politics, food and industry/economy. Topped off with the fun of the girls being in their own tuk tuk with driver) and an open roof that allowed them to stand and wave to friendly locals - we couldn't have asked for a better way to see Negombo.

Highlights of Negombo

Fantastic day with Nishan! I booked last minute as I wasn’t sure what and where I wanted to go in Negombo but Nishan had me covered. He picked up on time in his kitted out TukTuk and we saw all the key sites of this city. He gave me a brief history to start with of Sri Lanka and the city and gave me bite size information at every stop - just as well as it was a really hot day! I learnt about the religions and daily life here - a great introduction to my trip. He gave me a free bottle of water too and allowed time for optional shopping if I wished.

Really great experience!!!

I booked this trip one day in advance and it was the best choice! We had such an amazing time and the host was so sweet. When we wanted to take pictures they stopped and made sure we had what we wanted. For example: when we were driving home in the tuk tuk, we saw a beautiful sunset and wanted pictures so they stopped immediately and let us do our thing 🤣. They were really nice and the fruits were delicious! 🥥🍉🍌 Also the stop with the monkeys was amazing! Really enjoyed everything!

The best flavour of Negombo at the start or end of your stay in SL

Better than whistlestop but certainly worthwhile. The fish market is a MUST!!! Our guide arrived on time, gave us freedom to move around at each stop, was easy to understand and very amiable. Great fellow, well done, a credit to your town and country
