Itinerary
The oldest district of Marseille is also one of the most visited. Located in city's historic center, a stone's throw from the Old Port, it is a perpetual reminder of the eventful history of the ancient Massalia (Marseille)
It is one of Marseille's emblems because the Cathedral of the Major is unique and represents all the power of the city. It is the only cathedral built in France in the 19th century. Its spectacular dimensions are similar to those of St. Peter's Basilica in Rome, which allows it to receive up to 3,000 people! This excessiveness was intended to show the power of the Phocaean city, visible from the sea.
Drive along the corniche John Kennedy with beautiful views along the Frioul islands and Castle d'if.
one of the most emblematic places in Marseille. It is the natural meeting place for all Marseilles residents and visitors. This is where you can feel the atmosphere of Marseille, between the fish market and the excitement of the city centre.
The Cours Julien is "the Hipster District", the one that will allow you to shop while enjoying the peace and quiet! This district is the largest district in France dedicated to street art. Let yourself be seduced by the streets of this colourful area. It is a real neighbourhood spirit, an atmosphere that we appreciate, very atypical, especially when we come across the famous local markets: the market of the plain, the farmers' market, the creators' market, the organic market, etc.
If it were necessary to present Notre Dame de la Garde in a few words, it would be: more than 800 years of pilgrimage, 157 metres high, a breathtaking view of the entire Phocaean city and the symbol of an entire city.
On the Corniche Kennedy, below the road, is the beach of the Prophet, one of the oldest beaches in Marseille and one of the most popular.Crowded in the summer, it is a joy for both young and old people.
Nestled between two cliffs, facing the sea, the Vallon des Auffes offers the impression that time stopped at Marcel Pagnol's time. It is one of the most emblematic places in Marseille. Unique, authentic, picturesque site, there are many adjectives to describe this small peaceful haven so close and so far away from the hustle and bustle of the city center. It is here that you will find one of the most beautiful settings to eat in a restaurant in Marseille.
‘Les Goudes’, a real little fishermen’s village on the edge of Marseille, is a very different area, made up of huts, restaurants, fortifications and close to dream spots such as ‘Callelongue’ or ‘Cap Croisette’. You will discover on this page the secrets and the history of this unusual place.

Alex was our guide. He is a native from Paris who has lived in Marseille for the last 6 years. He really knew his history and pointed out all of Marseille’s historical points as well as the current points of interest. He arrived on time and for an additional $40, picked us up just outside the cruise terminal building which was very convenient. We set that up directly with the tour operator ahead of time, as well as pushing the tour back 30-minutes since our cruise ship gangway opened at 9:30 and the tour started at 9:30. They accommodated a 10:00 start time. Alex was great, took plenty of photos of us, knew where to best park and pose with the car! It was a hot day and no AC in the car but plenty of wind coming in through windows kept us pretty comfortable! Make sure to allow more time for the Fountain of Longchamp. Thanks Alex!
What a unique treat to get an insiders look at the make-up of Marseille and the surrounding area! Alex was wonderful. He was funny, very intelligent and not shy about sharing his very intuitive input on art, social issues, the history and life in Marseille. The car (Brigitte!) was a perfect way to enjoy a gorgeous blue-sky day while we drove the coastal road and in and around neighborhoods. He made perfectly timed stops at cathedrals, parks and a seaside town nearby. We were visiting Marseille just for the day from a Mediterranean cruise and this was by far one of our favorite adventures on that trip, AND one of the better experiences we've had in Europe. Alex takes the time to prepare himself with the right details and stories as we drove along. As we got to know him, he shared his thoughts on living in that area. We really appreciated his style. This is EXACTLY what you would want to do in this place. Spend time with a local who tours you around in a vintage (adorable!) Citroen. We highly recommend this tour, but sign up early so you don't miss out.
We had a wonderful round trip in a great original French old car and our driver Morgane went to great trouble to show us great places and areas even just outside Marseille / center. We enjoyed every minute and can only recommend this ride. Thanks again to Morgane ☺️👍
This was a super unique and personable way to see Marseille and Cassis with the little time we had there! We got off the cruise ship and Morgan was right there in the private tours area waiting. She was very knowledgeable about the area and showed us her favorite spots. It was nice having a guide who grew up in the area as you could tell how much love she had for the place. If you have enough time to go to Cassis, do it! Morgan gave us 2 hours to get lunch and roam around, and even gave us some suggestions for where to go. Then she took us to a winery and they showed us how they make the wine and gave us a tasting. It was really cool to drive around in such a cute old car with the breeze blowing around you. Pro tip - bring a hat! Morgan let me wear one of hers all day so my hair wasn’t flying all over.
Excellent guide! Excellent day! So fun to see the south of France from the vintage car! She taught us about all the sites, had some free time to wander and explore. Got to see a lot of south of France in one day. It was actually raining on a part of our tour but our guide made the absolute best of it and the day ended up being a great . We had our transport portion of the activity to have in the rain versus staying inside our hotel. By the time we arrived in Monaco- rain had stopped perfect timing for us to wander around. Thank you thank you- a highlight of the trip.
We had a beautiful morning exploring the city and surrounding areas with Morgane. She was an amazing guide showing us all the must sees and some cool spots off the beaten path. Would recommend this adventure to anyone.
It’s a great way to Marseille! Edi was a really knowledgeable guide who gave us insight only a local can provide. The classic Citroen is super cool and fun, and we got smiles and thumbs-up all day. Highly recommended!
Amazing way to experience the sights, neighborhoods, history and culture of Marseilles in just 4 hours! Ami is full of energy and his pride for Marseilles is palpable. His English is excellent and he has a wonderful way of exposing the uniqueness of the city and its people. We saw most of the major sites and drove through farmers markets, narrow streets through neighborhoods and even visited Parc de Calanques. We felt like movie stars driving around in the 1974 Citroen 2CV with people beeping and tourists taking photos at every corner. What a fun day!
Great car, great sights and great driver! Easy to find our driver, very accommodating when our ship completely port. Je t’aime le petite Frenchie tours
Edi was the best guide who showed us around Marseilles in this fantastic vintage car. He was so nice and funny and we even had great conversations on our way to sites. He was also kind enough to take our pictures. Loved the whole experience. We had lur 16 month old toddler who also enjoyed thoroughly. Must Do in Marseilles. Cheers to dear Edi
