On this 4-hour food exploration tour, you will follow a local food expert who is fluent in English, weaving through the streets and alleys of Chengdu. As you stroll along, you'll taste authentic snacks while immersing yourself in the city's profound food culture. As a world-renowned culinary capital, Chengdu's charm extends beyond the dining table—it lies in the vibrant, lively atmosphere of its streets. We will take you deep into the old lanes beloved by locals, sampling 7 to 8 different kinds of authentic snacks and specialty dishes—from crispy-on-the-outside, soft-on-the-inside egg puff pancakes to the spicy and savory Dan Dan noodles, and sizzling charcoal-grilled skewers… every bite is pure Chengdu flavor. Along the way, you'll take a short break at a century-old tea house, fully experiencing the slow pace of life that Chengdu locals enjoy. This is not just a food tour; it's an immersive journey into the Chengdu way of life.

Sichuan Hotpot has a history of at least 1700 years. Today Sichuan Hotpots have been increased in category to include the "Red Pot" (Spicy hotpot flavor with chili peppers and Sichuan peppercorns), the “White Pot” (Non-spicy hotpot flavor with broth) and ‘Double Pot’ (Including the first two). With the help of your guide, you will be cooking both the spicy hotpot and the Non-spicy pot and learn to cut and set dishes with decorations, which will be guided by a professional chef. This experience will have a very unique local market visit as well, you will try to learn and taste the different foods in this beautiful city.

I enjoyed a fantastic private tour with Jerry in Chengdu to explore a local residential neighborhood, visit a dry/wet market, and enjoy street eats at several places at a night market before capping the evening off with a hot pot dinner. Everything went very smoothly, from meeting right outside the subway station to being dropped off right at a subway stop for a ride back. Jerry's passion for Chengdu and China shined through, and he patiently answering all of my questions about modern life. Be ready to eat and sample many different kinds of foods - Jerry was very helpful catering our orders as although I can eat quite spicy, the spice build-up became a bit too much for me as the night went on!

Our family really enjoyed the tour as it gave us a glimpse into local life. Interesting sights around the markets. Our guide Jerry was super nice and easy going. Knowledgeable and very helpful with food allergies/preferences. We enjoyed the food we tried and the restaurant chosen was delicious.

A wonderful experience with a very nice guide. A guided tour of a local market with an explanation of the vegetables and meats sold. Then a cooking class discovers everyday Sishuan specialties m. Thanks again for the beer offered ❤️

Relaxed and laid back tour visiting a local market with our awesome guides Lance and Litchi, letting them introduce and explain the vegetables, fruit, meat and spices that are used in Sichuan cuisine. Enjoying Chengdu snacks along the way. The highlight of the tour was a cooking workshop where we prepared delicious food under supervision of an experienced auntie and had a feist afterwards including some beers and nice conversation in a private setting. A truly fun and special experience.

This tour was really fun. It gave a very good impression of everyday chinese life and of course the food - it was great to taste the original Chinese street food. And at the end - the hotpot. Jerry was a fantastic and perfect guide for this tour. I enjoyed it so much.

We had a fun experience with Lance. We first hit the market where he gave us some insight on local products and gave us a glimpse into daily life of Chengdu people. After the stroll we had some tea and started preparing our hot pot with a professional chef. Very knowledgable and patiently she explained us the key points of a good hot pot soup base. After cooking we were able to enjoy our meal with beer and good company. Thx for everything.
