Billy was great, sorry he’s retiring. Be sure to dress WARM, but in layers. It gets warmer later in the day.
This tour was great. William got us to the peak before any other tours which allowed us a prime spot. Shuttle ride up and down the mountain was a bit rough so bring meds if you get carsick easily. Dress warmly and you’ll be able to enjoy the experience.
The sunrise views were amazing. Glenn was knowledgeable. I was a little disappointed that they could not drop off anywhere near the cruise port.
The guide was wonderful and helpful for suggestions beyond the tour. It is good to do the tour the day after arrival since it’ll be easier to adjust to time change
Excellent tour. Billy was amazing. He shared great information and took very good care of everyone on the tour.
I can check this off my bucket list now! It was absolutely amazing! Our driver got us there and situated in plenty of time before the sunrise, and even had jackets to keep us warm! He did a great job!! The breakfast was delicious and a fantastic end to the excursion! We had a 2am pickup and we were back at our hotel before 10am! It was well worth the early morning!
Dress warmly! You have lots of time to catch up on sleep on the bus ride so don’t worry about the early start time. We got to see the Milky Way and so many stars when we stopped at the halfway point of Haleakala. It was a beautiful way to see the sunrise! The breakfast was delicious.
Well worth the early wake up. A true once in a lifetime experience. Our guide Bill was exceptional and knowledgeable not only about Haleakala but the whole island. We brought our travel pillows and blankets for the ride up the mountain to catch a nap. Bill woke us up when we were close to the park entrance so it was nice to catch a little extra shut eye. Bring warm clothing, more than a light jacket, it was freezing and if you're not dressed appropriately and leave you will have missed a once in a lifetime experience. They do provide a nice light jacket but you will still need multiple layers.
Billy was an amazing, kind and informative tour guide who worked so hard to make up for a huge disappointment that was completely out of his control: the weather. Not only did we NOT see a sunrise, we arrived to windy, cold rain and ZERO visibility. It was our daughter's #1 excursion, an expensive one at that, and it was a complete bummer. Again, not in anyone's control weather-wise, but I do wish there were some sort of re-book option or partial refund when the weather is THAT bad. :-( Such a bummer. Be sure to read the fine print and understand the weather policy completely before paying so much money.
A very early pick up from hotel (02.00) to get to the summit to experience an amazing sunrise through the clouds at 10,000ft!! Our driver Glenn was very friendly and knowledgeable and communicated throughout the whole trip. Breakfast was at a beautiful sugar plantation where the food and views were lovely. Be warned, when they say it gets cold at the top take heed. It was 3 degrees Celsius at the summit with a wind chill factor to add, do not let this put you off, it is an amazing experience
