Our Certified Interpretive Guides will share with our guests the unique Culture and History of Maui and specifically the Upcountry area during the tour. Once inside Haleakala National Park, our interpretive guides will explore subjects such as the distinct geology and ecology of the surrounding area. Other topics of discussion include Traditional Ocean Navigation and Hawaiian Mythology. Once the sun goes down, our guests will be treated to one of the best places on earth for viewing the nighttime sky.

This is a once in a lifetime experience that combines history, ecology, and stars. Our tour guide, Michael was well versed in everything, with plenty experience dealing with a disparate group of people. He kept us interested and informed by starting many stories and coming back to them to complete at different points. There were few questions asked because he covered everything. The sunset encounter was so fascinating because the light changed rapidly and was over before we knew it. But what came next after most other people left the park was so memorable. One by one, the stars blinked open. Michael was ready to direct our attention to the constellations, adding facts about what they meant for ancient people. He supplied hot chocolate or tea to keep us warm. I would recommend this trip to older kids and adults.
The best tour I have been on thus far! Would book with Mike, our tour guide, again. Very intimate setting, Mike was so nice and very knowledgeable. I love how we were picked up at our hotel, dinner was provided, even hot cocoa or hot tea! Worth every penny!
Exciting tour to Haleakala! Amazing views and such an incredible sunset. Michael is the best!! Very informative and we learned about the history of Hawaii, the plants, and the wildlife on the island. Food was excellent with lots of choices. Michael truly cares about his guests, refers to us as his ohana, and makes the tour a fun experience for all! We even saw amazing stars after the stunning sunset. This tour is highly recommended, a must do when in Maui!

Michael has tailored this experience down to the last detail. From the moment of pickup, he related information about Hawai’i and Maui. History, geology, botany - he knew it all. Dinner was delicious and the added treat of hot chocolate after being outside in the cold was most welcome. Stargazing after sunset was gorgeous and having time to do so is an excellent end to the time up the mountain. Highly recommend!!! We will probably do it again next time!
We had originally signed up for a sunset dinner tour with different tour group who never showed up. However, this turned out to be a blessing as we had such an amazing experience with Bike Maui / Haleakala Ecotours. We were in a group of 8 and Michael was our tour guide and van driver. He did a fabulous job in providing us such interesting historical information and about Hawaii in general. He also made sure we got an extraordinary stargazing experience. When the weather changed at the top of Haleakala he stopped at 7,000 feet. The weather was still bad, so he stopped at 5,000 feet and — what a show of stars!! He also provided us with hot chocolate or tea after the chilly sunset. Michael definitely earned a 5 PLUS stars! We would highly recommend this tour.
Michael our guide was super knowledgeable and friendly. He knew and shared so much about the national park, Hawaiian history and about the native fauna and flora. Very entertaining and informative tour. We had a lovely sunset and saw the night sky, highly recommended.
I took the tour with Hawaiian tours ! And our tour guy was very kind and knowledgable about the Island and culture, story telling from generation to generation. He allowed us to enjoy the sunset from beginning to end 😍🙏❤️👏👏👏
The tour guide was friendly and entertaining. The food was good. Great sunset. Very windy and cold, a jacket with hood is recommended. Enjoyed the tour a lot.
Our tour guide Mike did an incredible job. While expertly navigating the road up the 10,000 foot mountain, Michael entertained us with his vast knowledge and warm sense of humor. We stopped at a wonderful bistro along the way. My lunch which was included in the price of the tour was the most delicious crabcake sandwich that I’ve ever had. I enjoyed eating it while gazing out at a fluffy layer of clouds and the sun glistening off the Pacific Ocean and the Maui coastline. Mike helped us get our cameras ready for a spectacular sunset. The highlight for me was the stargazing where I had to look closely to find the constellations in an amongst the thousands of stars.
