First we definitely want to thank the tour company for their flexibility, we came down with a case of traveler’s flu and they were very accommodating in rescheduling us Our guide Pedro was super knowledgeable of local fruits and was able to make comparisons to things we were familiar with in the US. He was patient and enthusiastic with answering our questions, and even acted as a translator so we could converse with the merchants and locals (a sweet grandma came up and wanted to tell us how she prepared the type of avocado we were sampling for breakfast). In general he got us as many samples of whatever we were interested in as we wanted, we left full! After the tour he recommended/ brought us to a place to sit and enjoy the morning In hindsight it’s probably obvious, but a fruit tour can be messy! Pedro came prepared with water, trash bags, napkins so we were clean and comfortable the whole tour Overall Pedro was a gem, we’d definitely recommend him to anyone interested in exploring the produce of Brazil!
Thank you so much, Pedro will be thrilled to know his knowledge, patience, and extra care made the tour such a great experience. We’re glad you left full and comfortable. 🍇 Cheers, Maira from Cook in Fiesta
Hayza was so knowledgeable with all the fruits around the market. We are visiting from the US and wanted a tour to highlight fruits that we cannot find elsewhere. We walked around the market to grab 15 fruits so taste. Then we sat at a table as we unpacked specifics about each fruit. Hayza explained details about each fruit such as if you eat the whole fruit, are the seeds edible, is it sour or sweet, which are native to Brazil and which are imported, etc. I wish I could bring back some fruits with me to the US. Definitely recommend this tour if you’re visiting Rio de Janeiro and wanted to explore local fruits not found anywhere else in the world.
Wonderful to hear, Hayza will be thrilled you enjoyed learning about the fruits and all the details behind them. That market tasting really is a special one. 🥭 Cheers, Maira from Cook in Fiesta
Great experience, friendly and knowledgable guide. She prepared us a generous spread of variety of fruits, and we even got a box of the left overs to take home. Good activity for hot sunny day because the market has shade.
Thanks for the kind words, glad the tasting and the take-home box were helpful on a hot day. 🍌 Cheers, Maira from Cook in Fiesta
