Uluwatu Temple — known locally as "Pura Luhur Uluwatu", stands as a breathtaking testament to Bali’s spiritual and natural splendor. Perched majestically on a 70-meter cliff, this iconic temple offers more than just a stunning view; it’s a gateway to the soul of Bali, where tradition, culture, and the elements converge in a powerful display of beauty and reverence.

Admission included60 min

The Kecak Dance, one of Bali’s most iconic performances, inspired by the sacred Sanghyang dance, which is performed to ward off negative spirits, they adapted the ritual into a dramatic storytelling dance based on the Ramayana epic. Unlike traditional Balinese dance, Kecak Dance does not use musical instruments; instead, it relies entirely on the synchronized chanting of a large male chorus, producing the famous "cak-cak-cak" sound.

Fantastic evening! Included FYIs for ASD or Motion sickness

I went with my two ASD kiddos and husband. It was hot and at times crowded and I wish we’d taken water with us. However, that’s on me. The guide was communicative ahead of time, met us and helped navigate the tickets and such, and had snacks for the ‘cheeky monkeys’ so they wouldn’t steal our things. Our guide WIDI had a great sense of humor and took some great pictures for us. He was sure to tell us about the temple and Hindu religion, and it was an overall fantastic experience. The Kecak dance was a bit overwhelming for the kids- again just an FYI for other families with ND members. It was hot, crowded, and we had to wait 45 minutes before it started… however once it did, it was unlike anything we’d seen before. Traffic to and from Uluwatu is something else! The road and traffic makes it a bit herky-jerky and my youngest got car sick- so just an FYI if any of you also get motion sickness easily.

Operator response

Thank you for sharing your family's experience with us. We're glad that Widi took great care of your family, kept you well-informed, and captured wonderful photos of your memories together. We also truly appreciate your thoughtful insights for other families traveling with ND children regarding the heat, crowd sensory levels, and travel time. We always strives to make every experience seamless and enjoyable. We would love to assist you again in the near future.

Temple & Fire dance show

Budi was a great guide. Meeting place was clear and we found him no problem. My glasses were taken by a monkey. He helped me get them back eventually- it was stressful but I can laugh about it now! The fire dance show was amazing, although seats were hard after a while. Highly recommended, keep your glasses away when in temple part!!

Hassle-free experience at Uluwatu temple

We had a great experience with Budi as our guide at the Uluwatu Temple. The tour included all the fees of temple entry, a guide as well as the Kecak dance show (6 pm), which seemed to be sold out at all other platforms. We didnt have to stand in any queue and the whole experience from start to end was very smooth, no hassle whatsoever. It took about 45 mins to finish the whole temple tour, and we reached the amphitheatre in time to grab good seats. Strongly recommend.

Operator response

Providing smooth and hassle-free tour, from ticket arrangements to securing good seats for the Kecak dance, are always our top priority, and we’re thrilled everything went seamlessly for you. Budi will be happy to know his efforts made your visit special. We truly appreciate your strong recommendation and hope to welcome you back on your next visit.

Kecak worth it— guide not so necessary!

The kecak dance at sunset was absolutely worth the wait! We got there at 3:45pm and our guide told us to meet him at 4:30pm and he showed up early too. Our other group members were 10 minutes late so we waited. I will say, I wish we didn’t get the guide. He really did not provide more than 2 details on the 20 minutes we spent together. He brings you in with your entrance ticket, warns you about the monkeys, tells you about the statue and temple, and takes 2 photos for you then sends you off into the place to sit to watch the dance. My husband and I usually don’t get guides and this reminded me why. We prefer to be on our own time instead of waiting for a group, but that’s just us! If you want good seats with a direct eyeline of the show— you’re going to want to sit down by 5pm. We sat at 5:20pm in the blistering heat and got the middle left section up towards the middle of the bleachers. You can see the Cliffside of the temple with the dance so it is perfect but if you want the sunset right behind the dancers I’d say go directly in the middle of the stage facing the gates. The show was a beautiful depiction of the Idonesian culture and a few hindu gods. Beautiful work by the whole group! Ps- I heard a lot of snickering and laughter at the chanting of the men during the dance from different groups of people, which was so sad and disrespectful. If you’re going to go—- please think with consideration and be mindful of cultural practices and values before laughing at things that don’t make sense!

Operator response

Thank you for taking the time to share a thoughtful review. We’re thrilled to hear that you enjoyed the beauty of the Kecak dance, the cultural performance, and the stunning sunset. Your practical tips on seating and arrival times will be helpful for future travelers. Regarding the meeting time, according to the booking, your scheduled meeting time is at 4:30 PM, while you arrived early at 3:45 PM. Our guide is currently caught in traffic nearby in the Uluwatu area and has kindly requested if you could wait just a moment. We sincerely apologize for any inconvenience this may cause. We also really appreciate your honest feedback regarding your experience with our guide. We strive to provide meaningful context and seamless coordination, but we completely respect that independent travelers prefer moving at their own pace. We will be taking your notes to our team to ensure our guides provide richer storytelling and better value for our guests in the future. Thank you as well for your thoughtful reminder about cultural respect during traditional performances—it’s so important to honor these sacred artistic traditions. We hope the magic of Bali stays with you and your husband for a long time. We look forward to meeting you again.
