Itinerary
Colombia is the most diverse country in the world in fruit production as we grow over 430 fruits throughout our territory. This is why we think we should take you to a fruit stand to try some of the most delicious ones. In this short stop, we are going to visit a farmers' market so you can be in a non-touristy place. Once there we provide you different exotic fruits you probably didn’t even know existed, with intense sour or sweet flavors. This is around a 20 minutes stop that is on the way to Guatape but our guests have loved it so far, so we are sure you are going to love it too. It is also a good opportunity to stretch your legs after 1 hour of sitting in the car before we reach the replica town, our next stop.
The drive from the fruits to the rock is around 35 minutes but is full of beautiful sceneries of kale plantations, onion, sugar cane, coffee, tomatoes and hundreds of mountains silhouettes. As we drive we start telling you all the history of the rock: components, owners, when was it climbed and more interesting facts. Once we get there you get the chance to climb up it. It’s 749 steps and 50 minutes approximately to go up and down. Once you reach the top, you can stay up there for as long as you wish as you witness one of the most beautiful views you have ever seen. This is not only our opinion but that of hundreds of tourists we have taken there. At the top there are several shops where you can buy water, beer and many other items and sit down to appreciate the view of the lake, tiny islands and country houses. Whenever you feel ready to start going down we'll be ready waiting for you to continue our adventure to one of the most colorful towns in the country: Guatape town.
The next and last stop is one of the most authentic and picturesque towns in Colombia: Guatapé. Named after an indian chief this town has preserved the Zocalos tradition. But what are Zocalos? It's a beautiful artistic colonial tradition that people from Guatapé has taken to the next level. At this town you have lunch in a very authentic place with a view to the lake and then to wash it down you have the chance to try a fresh and authentic Colombian coffee, the best quality from the coffee region. After the lunch and coffee you are invited to make a guided tour in which your guide explains in more detail the zocalos meaning and the town history. You visit places like the church with its beautiful wood ceiling, Zocalos square and the Remembrance Street. These 8 hours will be very informative, fun and cultural that combined with exquisite traditional meals makes it a memorable experience.

We did the private tour to Guatapé. 100% worth the visit to the stone and the village. Incredible views from the top of the stone. Our guide was Erika. Without it we would not have had the opportunity to discover beautiful little places in the village, he knew how to make an excellent reading of what we were looking for and his charisma and deep knowledge about what he was talking about made this tour an experience to recommend.
The experience with Laura was amazing! Not only was it an excellent guide, but it gave us recommendations for the whole country! Quite a luxury! Experience of 10!
We are incredibly grateful to Andres at Medellin Day Trips for helping us organize a day tour to Guatape. He patiently answered our questions and kindly modified the tour to meet our family’s needs. Our driver Jonathan and tour guide Laura were a pleasure to spend the day with. Jonathan drove carefully and safely with consideration to traffic updates. Laura was enthusiastic, knowledgeable, and flexible. She is understanding and made sure everyone had an enjoyable experience. We loved feeding the llamas, tasting exotic fruit, and the tour around Guatape. Thank you Andres, Laura and Jonathan!
