If you have the chance to take this tour with Yuly, do it! This was one of the best experiences of my trip and easily one of the most memorable days I had in Colombia. The tour was a very small group-just 3 of us-which made the whole experience feel incredibly personal. As a solo traveler, I especially appreciated how welcoming she was. During the drive, she shared the history of Colombia, Guatapé, and the surrounding area, but it never felt like a lecture. It felt like a conversation with a new friend on a road trip! Climbing the rock is definitely a workout, but the views are absolutely worth it. Getting to Guatapé early was another highlight because we were able to enjoy the colorful streets before the crowds arrived. Yuly’s passion for the town, its history, and its people made every stop so much more meaningful. She also gave us fantastic lunch recommendations and introduced us to local fruits that I probably never would have tried on my own. The coffee farm was the perfect way to end the day. It was a small family-run farm, and you could immediately tell how much Yuly cares about the family and the work they do. Laura welcomed us so warmly, and we had so much fun learning about the coffee-making process while getting hands-on throughout the experience. It was educational, authentic, and full of laughter. While it is a long day, every minute is worth it. If you’re looking for an authentic experience that goes beyond sightseeing, I can’t recommend this tour- and especially with Yuly- highly enough!
Oscar is an amazing tour guide and we loved the guatape and coffee/city tours we did. We were so impressed with Oscar’s ability to handle a large group.
Excellent guide with an immense amount of knowledge. My wife and I thoroughly enjoyed the experience especially the coffee farm.
This tour was incredible! Full day experience with 4+ amazing stops, yet nothing felt rushed. The guide (Oscar) was knowledgeable, friendly, fun, and engaging. I couldn’t recommend this tour more strongly.
This was one of the highlights of my trip to Colombia and an experience I would recommend without hesitation. As a solo traveler, I appreciated how comfortable and accommodating he was throughout the entire day. The combination of Guatapé and the coffee farm was fantastic. The coffee experience was memorable because it was completely hands-on. I learned about the process from start to finish, including picking, peeling, and tasting the coffee, and meeting the farm owner made the experience feel even more authentic. What truly sets this tour apart is the guide. He went above and beyond to customize the day for me, even helping arrange a helicopter ride that wasn’t part of the itinerary. He was also amazing at taking photos and videos, which is something solo travelers will definitely appreciate. The destinations were beautiful, but his knowledge, flexibility, and genuine care are what made this experience unforgettable.
This was one of our favorite days in Colombia thanks to our guide Henry! He was prompt, attentive, and we had a blast sharing stories during the car ride. We loved learning more about Colombia from his local perspective. The tour made it so easy to hit Guatapé, El Peñol, and a coffee farm all in one day without feeling rushed. Each experience was unique and so much fun. From exploring the colorful city of Guatapé, to climbing the rock for amazing views, to seeing the whole process of making coffee.. highly recommend this experience!
We had an amazing experience with Erika, who was our fantastic guide.
Oscar was excellent. Comfortable vehicle, very informative. He was very accommodating and knowledgeable. Will definitely ask for jim again if we return.
Oscar is a great communicator and provided all the info we needed before hand. He picked us up promptly from our Airbnb. His vehicle was clean and very comfortable. Easy rapport from the start. He is a fount of historical and area knowledge, and is a delightful host. We drove to Guatapé to climb the rock, went into the town and took a great walking tour before stopping for a great lunch. Believe him when he says to bring a raincoat and umbrella, although his trunk is also well stocked with extra umbrellas. We finished the afternoon at a family run coffee farm just outside the town. They were also a delightful family and it is clear Oscar is well-known and loved by them. He in fact did the majority of the tour there and teaching. We got to pick, sort, and go through the process from coffee plant to coffee cup. Throughout the day, Oscar was always very mindful of our needs and able to cater to our interests. We finished out day with a fun fruit-tasting stop at a local market. You will not be disappointed!
We had the absolute best experience on our private tour with Oscar, every part of the day was enjoyable, well-planned and worth every penny! From the moment Oscar picked up our group of three at our Airbnb until the moment he dropped us off again (almost 12 hours later!), he taught us all about the Medellín and Guatapé áreas along with their local culture, politics, economy and nature. He is so kind & knowledgeable and speaks both English & Spanish perfectly, making it easy for both my parents and I to fully participate in the day’s activities! I recommend him as a guide & this particular tour to anyone visiting Medellín!
