In 1753, most of the new immigrants were brought from Halifax to Lunenburg, which was to be the center of the planned settlement. The first to arrive were those who lived in town of Lunenberg and had farm lots throughout the peninsula, including Mahone Bay. They arrived under the leadership of mariner Ephraim Cook. The people who settled on the Lunenburg Peninsula, including the present-day village of Mahone Bay, were foreign protestants who were German, Swiss, and Montbéliardais settlers.[7]The village was popular for ship building in 80 century. History. Mahone Bay's boat building history begins with the Mi’kmaq. The Mi’kmaq were built birch bark canoes. The British began the first industrial production of ships. They established sawmills to produce lumber for shipbuilding.
The Old Town of Lunenburg is recognized as both a UNESCO World Heritage Site and National Historic District. Lunenburg is one of the best-preserved colonial settlements in North America. ounded in 1753 and made a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 1995 it has lots to offer all visitors. Historically, Lunenburg's economy relied on the offshore fishery, and today it hosts Canada's largest secondary fish-processing plant. Pratik was a wonderful driver and showed us all of the beautiful lakes in Halifax along with Peggy’s Cove, Mahone Bay and Lunenburg. We had a delicious lunch at Shawn’s landing which included a lobster roll and seafood chowder. It was a fun day in spite of a little rain.

The tour tried to do too much. We were to go to 3 places - made it to 2 but rushed. I would have preferred doing one well with amble time so that folks can see and explore.

Yes, we do agree that 5 hours can feel a bit short when trying to cover Peggy’s Cove, Lunenburg, and Mahone Bay, especially with the need to return guests on time for their cruise. With this time frame, we are only able to provide approximately 30 minutes at Peggy’s Cove, 40 minutes in Lunenburg, and about 15 minutes in Mahone Bay, as outlined in the online itinerary. For guests who would like more time to explore each destination at a more relaxed pace, we also offer an 8-hour tour of the same route. This allows for a more leisurely experience and additional time at each location. We truly appreciate your input and hope to have the opportunity to welcome you again on a longer tour in the future.

The CSR I spoke with on the phone name MarJohn was very helpful, friendly and knowledgeable. The communication after the booking and the assignment of the driver was seamless. Our driver Mister Shaheen was very punctual and nice all throughout the trip even offering to take our photo. The only comment we have was, we advised we were 5 adults but the car provided, which was a Mitsubishi Outlander, was too tight in the third row. It was not a very pleasant experience for my Dad and my Brother but we made do.

Time is limited however this is a great experience considering there are 3 places to visit within the same day.
