This was just a great experience. From start to finish. I contacted the company and I worked with Virginia along the way planning the tour. She made it very easy. We were staying in lake Garda and there were wineries closer to our hotel but we wanted to visit a Amarone winery so we traveled about an hour and a half one way. The tour price includes a private car (Mercedes Van) that picked us up at our hotel and took us around for the day and brought us back which made the day so easy. Virginia was funny, knowledgeable, energetic. She took us to two small family run wineries that specialized in amarone and ripasso wines. we had a wonderful warm welcome at both places. At the first wineries we tasted 5 different wines and we tasted olive oils. We had a tour of the wine making facilities. At the second place we toured her huge property to understand how much land was involved in producing the grapes . We then had a beautiful meal in a gorgeous wine cellar - and of course tasted 5 delicious wines. My family loved this day and we really enjoyed Virginia - highly recommend the day if you enjoy wine
thank you so so much for these amazing feedback . it has been a pleasure meeting all you all the best and a happy life virginia
Fabulous day out visiting 2 wineries, the guide (Sarah) was really knowledgeable regarding the wine process and gave us great insight en route to the wineries. The both wineries were family owned and both very different, as the weather was incredible hot we didn’t walk round the vines but the detail given on growing was excellent. I had a truly great day out and as there was only 3 of up it was almost a private tour. I now can’t wait for the wines I purchased to be shipped!!
Compass Travel booked Romeo and Juliet Guide through viator. You can book direct with them with Sara@romeojullietguide. Sara picked us up in Verona square and we drove approximately 40 min to first of two wineries. While driving we discussed what we knew about wines and she told us about the Valpolicella area. The first winery we arrived at was Monte Santoccio.. The winery is a smaller less commercial winery. The owner and his family live at the winery. Sarah discussed the Terrior and DOC for Valpollicella. We then tasted 4 or 5 wines. She explained they make an Amarone which uses naturally dried grapes and has secondary fermentation. If they are not careful the wine can have too high alcohol and would be a port. During our discussions the owner brought out some of his best wine -2016 & 2018 Amarone. It was great and wished in someways he didn't let us sample. We ended up buying 4 bottles of various ones which include 2016 (100 bottles left) and 2018. The next winery we visited was Corte Bourghetti. More a commerical winery located in a 16th century estate. The Winery is beautiful. Much larger than Santoccio but a good measure to evaluate the different size. We had an italian lunch and tried several of their wines. They didn't haven any reserves of which we were aware. They Amarone was 2022. Note Amarones can be held for 30 years without deterioration. We bought a Riapsso and an Amarone. We liked both wineries but really like Santoccio better. Taste is subjective so can't say you would like same. Sara explained on way back that where she takes you is dependent on what wineries are available. Could we have visited more - yes but we took our time and it was really enjoyable.
I’m overwhelmed by joy guys! Thank you so much for this amazing review with all my tour summarized. I really hope this could be helpful for others. Hope to see you soon! Enjoy 😉 your wines!
A great experience! We learnt so much about wine making and the specificities of the Valpolicella red wines. We have visited two wineries, Franchini and Borghetti, where we had wine tasting and lunch. Valpolicella is beautiful and there is so much to learn and discover. Highly recommended!
thank you so much fpr your lovely feedback. take care guys all the best romeo and juliet guide team virginia- sara- aurora
This was a wonderful semi-private tour with only four people total. Sara was a wonderful guide who shared a lot of knowledge. The two wineries were small family operated and it felt like visiting someone’s home. This tour offers an easy way to experience the region and the wines without having to arrange all of the details yourself. Highest recommendation - do this tour!
Thank you 🙏 so much for your kind review. It means so Much for us
Sara was an exceptional host with so much knowledge. The two wineries we visited were distinct, insightful and iconic. The wine was Divine!!!! We definitely would recommend this tour for anyone desiring a unique Valpolicella experience!
Thank you so much guys. I had lots of fun with you!
Virginia was absolutely the best guide, and we thoroughly enjoyed our time with her visiting two wineries in the region. We learned about the local culture and customs and all about a new variety of wine we had never tried. Virginia had everything organized to perfection and obviously loves what she does. She struck the right balance of being engaged with us and also giving us moments to enjoy the views and lunch on our own. I was sad we did not have more time in Verona to do another tour with Virginia! Definitely book any and all of her tours the next time you're in Italy!
Thank you so much guys do such lovely worlds!!!! It’s been a pleasure meeting you! I wish you all the best and a happy happy life With love , Virginia
A wonderful time with Sara visiting two great wineries along with meeting the owners. Very warm welcomes and our own private tasting and no worries about driving, etc. Sara picked us up in Verona, was very knowledgeable of both the wines and the area, and coordinated the purchase and shipping making it easy. Such a nice day trip during our visit.
grazie mille all the best with love

Walk through the region of Valpolicela, by special wineries, having the pleasure to be introduced to the place by the producer himself. The guide Jacopo was a highlight apart, for his competence and sympathy. Nice walk!
