Itinerary
We begin our visit in the traditional neighborhood of SAN LÁZARO, built on an old pre-Hispanic Yarabaya town; It has small streets, squares, passages and various mansions. The church of San Lázaro stands out, a small bridge made of ashlar and Campo Redondo
This place has the purpose of offering the experience of the alpaca from different perspectives. We will learn more about ancestral techniques, fiber classification, local machinery and finally a trip back in time to learn more about the textiles of the Pre-Inca cultures. The typical and natural exhibition environment will give us the opportunity to interact directly with the animals, which constitutes an unforgettable experience.
At this stage of the experience we will enter the Tambo el abattoir or Barrio del Solar, right next to the Chili River. It was built with ashlar and used for animal sacrifice. The main building comprised three levels that take advantage of the gap between the street and the riverbank
Local cafeteria (I include: 02 Peruvian coffee) This cafeteria is a true museum. Here we will find exhibitions of local artists, university students and a very welcoming environment to take a short break during our experience.
Historical explanation
"The Cloisters of the Company" is an architectural gem for the eyes. It is located half a block from the Plaza de Armas and is one of the largest examples of volcanic stone construction within the white city. The passage through these arches and vaults of ashlar is very passing thanks to its history and symmetry

Javier was an incredible historian and mixed in some personal stories to help make the tour feel even more connected to the city and its people. Highly recommend!
Thank you very much for your kind review! We are delighted to hear that you enjoyed the tour and that Javier helped make your experience in Arequipa so memorable. Sharing the history, culture, and local stories of our city is something we are truly passionate about, and we are glad this made you feel more connected to Arequipa and its people. Warm regards!
We were the only participants so we had a private tour :-) Our guide told us a lot about Arequipa, the city, history, culture and people and did not leave out any detail. We had a wonderful time and would recommend the tour 100%.
Visiting the neighborhood was my favorite part as well as the yummy coffee. my guide as very knowledgeable and helpful with pointing out places to get authentic food.
Thanks for visiting Julie! It was a pleasure to introduce you to the city.
A different and very nice way to know the best of Arequipa, we were very satisfied with the treatment, legends and history of Arequipa.
Buenas tardes Diego!
Was expecting a lovely tour based on the reviews. But this was a disappointment in every respect. In fact, the tour as advertised was basically not even provided. - It is advertised as 3.5 hours. Our tour was 1 hour. - We did not have the coffee or chocolate tasting. When I asked what about that, they just said "The guy wasn't there, sorry." - There was nothing "Golden Hour" about this tour. It went from 2:30-3:30, middle of the afternoon. Every part of the tour description? We did none of that. - We only visited a couple churches, that was it. Then the guide said goodbye. One hour. What makes it worse is that I politely complained to Viator and requested a full refund, stating the facts and our disappointment. In some kind of joint response with the tour provider, they made excuses and said "well you had the tour," and only offered a small partial refund. I mean, all advertised details for this tour were not included. Not even remotely. I would expect Viator to stand by its commitment to providing excellent tours and excellent customer service, but they obviously do not. Nothign as described was delivered. Paid for the chocolate and coffee tasting part, and that was just dropped with no warning or explanation. But... that's what we paid for! Total letdown unfortunately, and now I know how Viator operates. Never use them again.

We were struck by this tour because it offered to see the streets of Arequipa telling legends and stories. Guide Elfer amazed us with everything he told us and the details in his anecdotes. Definitely highly recommended!!
