The canvas-covered log framed structure where we pan for gold is located just across from our walking bridge, between our office and the gift shop. Depending on the salmon run, we can often spy salmon in the creek. The covered troughs allow us to stay dry while panning, which makes this the perfect activity, rain or shine!

It was a lot of fun...

It was a lot of fun experiencing what it was like to pan for gold. And talking about what it was like during the gold rush.

Not worth the money

Tour guide was late and was running after her child during the tour. She is nice but unprofessional. I wouldn’t pay the money to do it again.

Headline: No flexibility, no apology, and no concern for customers

The pick-up service at the start of our hike went smoothly, but the return was extremely disappointing. Despite calling ahead several times to say we would be just a few minutes late, the shuttle left and was gone when we arrived only two minutes past the scheduled time. The company was dismissive and unapologetic when contacted, which left us scrambling to hitchhike back so we would not miss our train. Their lack of flexibility and poor customer service make this a service I would not recommend.

Great fun experience

Yes its tourist thing... but it was something that filled the time slot with something to do. My wife and I had a wonderful time. We both found gold!! Please dont think we expected to find huge nuggets. It was more about the experience. The set-up was really nice. We would highly recommend.

Great time pass for all ages!

This was a fun and casual way to spend an hour while in Seward! It’s a great activity for all ages and a perfect break between sightseeing or exploring town. Friendly staff, easy to learn, and a cool little memory to take home. Definitely recommend if you’re looking for something different and local to try in Seward to pass some time.

Gold Panning with Adventure Sixty North in Seward, Alaska

What an outstanding experience to go gold panning with Adventure Sixty North in Seward, Alaska! Our guide was wonderful and shared with us how prospectors did this in the “olden days”; what they had to endure to get to where the gold was supposed to be; and how to process it out of big stones of quartz. It wasn’t nearly that difficult for our group! The hard part was done and we were able to start panning, each with a bag of sand, rock, gems and yes, gold! It was an enjoyable and educational excursion.

So much fun! We learned a lot about gold panning. We did not get any big nuggets but we really enjoyed it. It would be a great activity with children!
