Stirling is one of Scotland’s greatest stone castles – an icon integral to how we understand the nation’s story. The castle peaked in importance in the 1500s, but its volcanic crag has been fortified since ancient times. Generations of Scottish monarchs have enlarged, adapted and embellished Stirling Castle. Explore its three main enclosures, and then admire the refurbished Royal Palace – childhood home of Mary Queen of Scots
Stirling’s famous landmark stands above the fields where William Wallace led his troops to victory at The Battle of Stirling Bridge and tells the story of the patriot and martyr who became Scotland’s National Hero.
Creativity flows through every corner of The Helix, showcased most prominently by the iconic Kelpies. These awe-inspiring equine sculptures, crafted by artist Andy Scott, captivate the imagination and pay homage to the horses that once powered Scotland's industrial might.

This was an amazing tour!!! We crammed quite a few tours in over the course of our stay in the UK and this was my favorite. David was a wonderful guide, incredibly knowledgeable, helpful and accommodating - he grabbed a bag of food for us to feed the Highland cows, accommodated my request to stop for coffee, directed us to a wonderful pub for lunch, snapped some family photos for us and even very kindly drove us back to Edinburgh at the end of the day (I had mistakenly set up for the tour to start in Glasgow.) If you get the chance, climb to the top of the Wallace Monument - the views are worth every step. I would tour with SS Tours again for sure.
