The Seco glacier is a glacier located in the Los Glaciares National Park, Province of Santa Cruz, Argentina. It has an area of 4 km², and its outstanding point is to be in a period of retreat, so you can see the tongue of land eroded in earlier times, when drained into the Spegazzini arm of Lake Argentino. VIP option is really fun. We developed great friendships and had an amazing time in a very beautiful area. The footbridges were fun too.
We were waiting at the hotel front door for picking up for this tour. The tour guide didn’t show up passing the pick up time. Then we found that the tour was canceled while we were asleep at night, nine hours before the departure time. It left us with no other choices because all the Glacier tours from other companies have left for the day, we scheduled to be in town for only one day for this tour and we had booked the flight to fly out of the town the following day. Our hearts turned cold at that moment- is this what we get from flying thousands of miles in to see the glaciers? Thank God, the front desk staff of our hotel helped us call an agent he knows, and found there’s a shorter tour leaving in an hour to see only the one most famous glacier in the region. We couldn’t thank this staff enough for the last minute help. We were just wondering, when this tour company knew that they would cancel this tour, why couldn’t they introduce us to their partners Tours? It was in slow season, there were openings with other tour groups. Can they think a bit for their customers in addition to making their own profits? This is about business ethics!
Thank you for your comment. We are truly sorry for your experience. It is true that all tours were canceled on that day. Unfortunately, the vessel experienced an unexpected technical issue, and the entire company staff worked throughout the night to resolve the problem. For safety reasons, the decision was made to cancel the vessel's departure that day. This was the first time in six years that the vessel did not set sail. It was not a personal decision, nor was it something that could have been predicted. As soon as we were informed of the issue, we immediately worked to reschedule all affected passengers for the following day or for another available date. However, in your case, since you were only staying in town for that single day, we had no choice but to issue a full refund, which was processed accordingly. We sincerely apologize, as we had no other way to rebook your service. Please understand that these kinds of events are beyond our control. As mentioned, it is extremely rare for a vessel of this category to cancel a departure, but safety is our top priority. That is why we spent the entire night working tirelessly; however, the final decision was made to test the vessel the next day without passengers, to ensure everything was operating flawlessly. We are very sorry you were unable to take the tour, as it is considered the finest vessel navigation experience in El Calafate. We sincerely hope to have the chance to welcome you again in the future.
The great views, bring you as close as they can to each glacier and / or floe the exceptional guide explaining everything, wonderful landscapes. In my case I contracted with premium cabin and I have no regrets at all it was a unique moment for my daughter's birthday with which they took into account my order and as attention they made a cake and gave us the toast as well, the excursion I contracted with Patagonia chic and it was great from the transfer and everything. If you can do it do it you won't regret it.
It was very good, except: - pick up/drop off in big bus took very long in the city (many stops) so our arrival was delayed. Smaller / more busses would be better - some passengers were offered to disembark at the balconies and continue from there, we did not have this option at booking but would have appreciated it.
