Girona History and Legends Tour Small Group from Girona

Description
The ancient walled city of Girona stands on a fortress-like hill, high above the confluence of the Onyar and Ter rivers. As the provincial capital it has a long and distinguished history. Founded by Iberians, the Romans later named it Gerunda and established it as an important stopping point on the Via Augusta, linking Iberia with Rome. The huge 15th century cathedral, boasting the widest unsupported gothic arch in the world, dominates the skyline, yet much of the city's attraction lies in exploring the mediaeval streets, especially around the charming Jewish quarter. You will be able to cross the Onyar River through the bridge built by Gustave Eiffel " Pont de les Peixeteries Velles" one of the most populat monuments of the city. This extensive visit (about 3 hours) will show you the most important monuments of Girona, its history, its Jewish heritage and also its Legends. Our guides are local guides who know all the secrets of the city.

We really enjoyed this tour. Our guide Pau was very knowledgeable and companionable. Would highly recommend.
Beautiful historical city center. It was guided excellently even for persons whose mother language is not English.
Carolina gave a fantastic history and legends tour. She is extremely knowledgeable and we came away feeling we had learnt so much about Girona.
This tour was very interesting, and just the right amount of time. Going at 6pm was great - not as crowded in the streets and a little cooler. Laia was a fabulous guide! She provided fabulous restaurant recommendations too!
Gerald was absolutely fantastic! We had a last-minute change of plans and he guided us seamlessly through the city, showing exceptional patience with my elderly mother - slowing his pace and taking the time to thoroughly answer every question she had. We walked the full allotted time, yet it never felt tiring thanks to his smooth, comfortable pace. One heads-up: parking in the area is quite limited and the streets stay busy, so I'd recommend arriving early and budgeting extra time to find a spot near the meeting point. We came away with a wealth of knowledge about Girona's architecture, legends, and history. Highly recommend for anyone looking for an enriching tourist experience!
Dylan did a fantastic job giving the tour and explaining important stories and information about Girona history. He was so personable and fun and helpful, made our experience in Girona wonderful. He also took the extra steps to recommend other local sites and local culture. Thank you Dylan!
So thorough and informative! Our tour guide had such love and passion for his city. It was evident in his knowledge and presentation.
Great experience if you like history. Make sure you wear shoes for walking and comfy outfit in the heat.
Gerard was a great guide. Explained the history very well. Very friendly. Answered all questions. Very knowledgeable. Five stars.
We did the tour with Quim who was an excellent guide. Very knowledgeable and had a great sense of humour which he worked well into the history facts. Without this maybe all the facts could have ended up a bit ‘dry’. The town is very small and it’s easy to navigate and walk around. Do this early and it will help with your bearings. Would highly recommend.
