Not a good experience. Canceled ~3hrs before the tour and no assistance or response regarding refunds. Responded to operator's cancelation message and sent 2 other messages to the operator and Viator and no response. Paid 57 Euro for nothing and was "ghosted" by the service. AVOID!
The stories were light and with a lot of history and a bit spooky but not too much. It was the busiest season in June so a bit hard to hear the guide but she did her best to talk over the noise. My teenager enjoyed the history and walking through the streets. It would be nice if the busiest streets by the Rialto could be avoided but that’s just a suggestion.
Guide looked bored and was unenthusiastic throughout complaining it was her 3 rd tour that day and that she wasn’t Venetian. I have been on the same tour with another guide through another company and enjoyed it so much I booked again. Tour lasted just over an hour.. whereas others last 2 hours plus! Not good value for money. I was disappointed.
This was our first booked event for our stay and we thoroughly enjoyed it. The guide was really lovely, full of stories and history of the City and both of us said how enjoyable it was. Not too much walking for those who are concerned about that, just like strolling and exploring. Highly recommend.
Directions for meeting were unclear. Ran a little late. Left without us. No contact number to call at night. No way to find the walking tour
The first thing our guide said was “I shouldn’t be here”. The regular guide was ill so he was filling in. There were only about 3-4 stops with stories, and only a couple of them would qualify as “ghost” stories. We rushed from one location to the next and the story was told quickly with no kind of elaboration. Just the facts, And our 90 minute tour finished 15 minutes early. Really disappointing experience overall and our guide looked relieved when it concluded. Hopefully the regular guide is much better. Would not recommend.
This is overpriced and limited quality (no offence to the guide). 1. Told to meet 15 mins beforehand but there was no guide to meet us. Left wondering if we were at the right spot. At the start time I had to approach the ticket collection booth and ask and then a guide came out. Also it needs to be clearer that you must approach the booth to collect your ticket. 2. The guides English was average. She sometimes struggled to find the right words and got it wrong which changed the meaning of the story completely (although she did correct herself after). 3. There were no headsets so it was hard to hear, especially in crowds or whilst walking. 4. The stories were average and lost any impact they may have had if delivered more excitingly. I would not spend $100 au on this experience in hindsight.
We have done a few ghost and night tours around Europe and the guides vary from place to place. Unfortunately this one lacked energy. There was no hearing devices which I believe is a requirement in Venice these days. It looked like the guide had a bag full but was reluctant to hand them out. The guide did not make themselves very obvious at the meeting point and you had to hunt around to find them. No discernible marker or flag to follow when walking around. This was the guides first time and she was very nervous and a bit timid. The guide spoke very softly which made it hard to understand what she was saying, particularly anywhere near other people. You had to really listen hard to hear what was going on. There were some good stories but the guide lacked any real energy to tell them. We got to one point at the end and apparently there was a gruesome story but she said no she wouldn't tell it as it was too awful and gruesome. I believe if you are on one of these Ghost tours you expect these things, not an apology for not telling a story. I have been on much better tours and would not recommend at this time.
It was ok really not worth the mone. The guide was nice yet only brought us to 4 different locations and told stories. Would have liked a little more entertainment from the guide. I ended up leaving half way through.
This was the guide’s first time and she found it hard to explain to us in English any of the stories. No head sets were used so could hardly hear what she was saying. Started speaking before everyone was there at any spot. Looked away most of the time. This should not have been classed a ghost tour but rather a badly run tour of Marco and Rialto. Walked through lit and crowded areas. I have been on others which far outclassed this one. A 1 and a half hour tour was done under one hour. I was glad it was cut short as it was a horrific experience. Certainly not worth the money.
