Such a wonderful time to visit Washington’s Mt Vernon. We had a gorgeous day which made it even better! We learned so much from our tour guides and got to know more about George and Martha’s life on the beautiful plantation. Do not hesitate to make this a part of your DC visit.
We had an excellent tour and overall visit to George Washington’s Mountain Vernon. As we were in a group we booked a private tour so after an amble round we were joined by Annette who was a great guide, extremely knowledgeable, friendly and interesting. The site is a wonderful part of US history and as ever immaculately kept. Welcoming entrance, shop, restaurant and displays. Very interesting house and grounds. Culminating in the Washington tomb. We all throughly enjoyed it. Whilst the tour was excellent the site is easily “doable” as a self guided visit as the map and guide is very helpful and detailed.
This historic site is a great place to go for all members of your family. The grounds are beautifully kept, and the exhibits are authentic and there is so much history to see. The visitor center has lots to see, and the movies give a very detailed explanation of the life and times of George Washington.
Great tour, very informative, beautiful grounds and lots of American history.
Interesting to visit from a historic perspective given Washington was the first President of the United States. Tour guide was very knowledgeable and gave as lot of insight into his life and the estate. Unfortunately it was being renovated while we visited so some of the buildings were off limits. Worth a visit.
Dont waste your time going in July 2025-August 2025 due to remodeling we only saw 2 rooms of the house. Didnt get to see bedroom or Washingtons teeth. Weve been before and it was much better. They honestly should not even be doing tours or selling mansion tickets right now if you cant see the house. Wait til later in 2025 to go!!!
Gail was extraordinary. One of the best tour guides of my life. She made Mount Vernon come alive and spent a ton of time with us. Cannot recommend her highly enough!
Very interesting tour with a lot of history and a very informative narration of the life of George Washington.
It's a very beautiful place! It is worth visiting and prepare a whole day to enjoy the entire property. There's a lot to see. On site there is a dining room where you can eat sandwiches and have something to drink. There are also souvenir shops. The house can be visited. The ticket costs $28.00. I found it too expensive! We went there by subway to Huntington Station and then we took bus 101, which leaves us in front of the venue. From Washington to Mount Vernon we take about an hour.
The employees at Mount Vernon were all outstanding. They provided us with a ton of knowledge, allowing us to really connect the past to our current experiences.
