Gallipoli Inland and Surroundings Full-Day Bike Tour

Description
Gallipoli and its inland still retain traces of the wealth that the lamp oil trade generated for centuries. First stop is at Alezio for a tasting in a cheese farm, then we go on to Tuglie for the amazing Radio Museum (all the items, including telegraphs, are still in working order!) or for the Museum of Rural Life. Heading back toward the coast, in the Porto Selvaggio Natural Reserve we have a picnic lunch (not included) in the shade of the pine forest and, for those who feel like it, a refreshing swim in the cool spring waters. On the way back to Gallipoli we stop in Santa Caterina to taste one of the best ice cream of the region (they’re specialized in “salty pistacchios”, “almond and figs” and “chocolate cream”). We arrive in Gallipoli by the sunset.

Itinerary
We start here and finish here. Gallipoli is a fisherman town, that had his glory thank to the export of olive oil that back in the medieval time was not sold for food purposes but for another reason and we will let you discover which!
We will stop in this little village to visit the underground olive mill from the 17th century.
Along secondary roads, among olive trees and dry stone local constructions (trulli and pajare), we'll reach Galatone with its imposing Norman castle, the Church of the Crucifix - masterpiece of Leccese baroque style - and the noble palace.
Porto Selvaggio, is a well preserved natural park with clear water where it is impossible not to jump in! There are sources of spring water mixing with the sea water. We stop for a swim and a lunch break.
Un tuffo nella cultura messapica attraverso antichi sepolcri e una esposizione museale molto curata

Beautiful experience, distances too long for me as I am not athletic.
Small town very nice, historic center on foot, beautiful old houses.beautiful plan on the sea. Beach accessible in the center
Excellent six days' cycling from Lecce with a circular inland and along coast to Gallipoli. GPS navigation very good and lots of opportunities to experience the culture of Puglia as well as take a rest over lunch or enjoy a swim. We are both over seventy ,and though challenging at times , with reasonable level of fitness, we managed the average of 40 miles approx cycling per day . Accommodation throughout was excellent, attentive hosts on hand, plus an excellent briefing before we set out. Salento Bici Tours provided excellent bikes, advice and support throughout our trip.
My wife and I had a fantastic day tour with Gonzo, our guide, very knowledgeable and friendly. A super day of gentle cycling.
Very nice trip guided by Tiziana, tremendous landscape along the seaside and in the inland , biking, swimming and hicking, just bring your good humour in your luggage
Wonderful experience! Great tour guides who catered to an English speaking group and showed us what Italy is all about.
Beautiful ride with crowning finish , the bath in the nature park. Thanks for the tour & the interesting exchange
Absolutely fantastic tour. Recommended to 1000% . Everything was perfectly organized and the support when a bike broke down was fast and fast. The BICI Salento team is young, super friendly and just fantastic. It was a brilliant week for the four of us. Pleasure a la madness!!
We were a group of 10/13 people composed of children and adults, we did more than one excursion with Carlo and his collaborators. They were all precious opportunities to get to know the heart of Salento. Carlo is an exquisite person, attentive and polite. He organized every day in the best way allowing us to totally enjoy every excursion. Our stay in Salento had an extra plus with the "Salento bike tour". Everything, is gathered in our heart .... another unforgettable holiday!!!!!! Thank you Carlo!!!!!!! I recommend to all those who want to delve into the knowledge of Salento to contact HERE !!!!!!! It is really worth trying ....... Marta
Unforgettable day with a group of friends for my bachelor party. We wanted to do some activities rather than the usual relaxation by the sea and couldn't have a better idea. The tour is very easy, all flat and most of the time spread over almost deserted roads. The bikes were brand new and kept very well, comfortable even the bags available to put inside any object. The guide Giulia is fantastic, very nice, connoisseur of the place and attentive manager of the group. The stop at the DonnAnna estate will remain in my heart forever, I expected something "commercial" for the average tourist instead I had to change my mind and we all enjoyed an incredible Processing from morning until evening
