Nestling in a natural casket where pine forests rub shoulders with ochre and white rocks, the vineyards on the plains and terraces that stretch down to the Mediterranean sea, Cassis is protected by the two monuments of nature that are Cap Canaille(tallest coastal cliff in Europe) glowing red when the Mistral blows, and the white limestone Calanques. "Qu'a vist Paris, se noun a vist Cassis, pou dire: n'ai rèn vist" These words written by Frédéric Mistral, the Nobel prize .This little fishing harbour, nestling between two exceptional natural sites (the famous Massif des Calanques and the majestic Cap Canaille) offers its visitors a concentrate of Provence and the Mediterranean. Cassis marks everyone’s minds forever as they discover the harbour for the first time, its boats and welcoming café terraces.
It is located in the commune of Cassis, northwest of that of La Ciotat and culminates at an altitude of 363 meters. Its rock, which tends towards red, is composed of detrital limestone. Jutting into the Mediterranean Sea, it is made up of steep, rocky shores dominated by the western end of the Soubeyranes cliffs. The latter constitute the highest maritime cliffs in France (before those of Étretat and Cap Blanc-Nez) with a maximum altitude of 394 meters[1], as well as the fourth highest in Europe
Get back to your véhicule from Cassis and head up to Marseille for 45 Minutes drive you’ll get to the symbol of Marseille La basilique notre Dame de la garde
Marseille’s iconic figure, Notre-Dame de la Garde or “La Bonne Mère” watches over sailors, fishermen and the entire city. Visit Notre-Dame and enjoy the views from the top of the hill during your stay in Marseille.

Gloni was a fun guide! He took you to good places in Marseille and Cassia. Both places were beautiful. In Marseille we even visited the oldest bakery. We got time on our own in different spots to shop and walk around and eat but time goes by fast. I left 4 stars because he was 1 hr late based off his office not locating our trip so we only went to 2 places and the cost of the tour was not adjusted. So just make sure if you book, you hear from the tour the day before. We were able to salvage the trip and had a good time but this tour cost a lot to not get to go to all 3 places.

However, as you specifically requested to see the Château d’If and also preferred to avoid a rushed schedule, the itinerary was adjusted on the day to focus on Marseille and Cassis, giving you more time to enjoy both destinations at a comfortable pace. Djilani the tour guide was excellent! He was on time and waited for us to get off the ship. Gave us great day sharing the history of all the areas we visited. Felt like family showing us around. Well this tour guide Djilani was awesome. He waited for us at a nice comfortable Van with full AC since I never got a TripAdvisor confirmation via email. Then he gave a superb tour explaining to us every detail of our tour plus he’s very humorous. He was patient with us and even gave great tips regarding safety issues. We truly were impressed!!
