Full-Day Tour to Sacred Valley: Ollantaytambo, Chinchero, Yucay Museum and Lunch

Description
During the morning, you are picked up from your hotel in Cusco to visit the town of Chinchero, a traditional Cusco urban center located at an elevated point with a beautiful view of the valley. The inhabitants of this area preserve the artisan traditions and the inherited knowledge of the Incas. There are also archaeological remains and a beautiful seventeenth-century church. Then, you are transferred to the Living Museum of Yucay. A center Andean traditions interpretations, where demonstrations of the elaboration of textile work, adobe, pottery and silverware are carried out in the same way in which they used to in antiquity. Transfer to Ollantaytambo where you have free time for lunch. After this, visit the town and local archaeological site, inhabited uninterruptedly since Inca times, and climb the iconic fortress, built next to a mountain. At the end of this activity, you are transferred back to your hotel. *Visits on Sundays include a tour to the Chinchero market.

Itinerary
Chinchero is located 28 km from the city of Cusco, at 3,780 meters above sea level. Its main square is an extraordinary fusion between Inca and colonial architecture. Its church is one of the best examples of Cusco religious art, it was built on Inca walls, with an altar decorated in gold leaf in the Baroque style.
This is a centre Andean traditions interpretations where you can see demonstrations of the elaboration of textile work, silverware and pottery.
Ollantaytambo, a typical example of urban planning of the Incas still inhabited like in the past. You will find here a great archaeological complex called fortress although it was a tambo, a resting and lodging place for long distance travellers.

We loved the experience in the sacred valley and especially our Edmund Guide. A very cultured person, passionate about the culture of his country and very friendly. We had a lot of fun and learned a lot. Thanks to our favorite auca! Greetings, the Argentine warriors
I made this excursion inside a guided circuit. The Guide of this tour, Juan, explained well, but unfortunately I would not recommend this tour. It doesn’t seem logical for me to spend just 2 hours in total visiting the archaeological sites of interest, Chinchero and Ollantaytambo (without leaving even a moment free and also doing it on horseback), 1 hour to eat, and the rest of the day (almost 4 hours) to visit obligatory commercial premises, in which it is clear that the Guide or the agency take some kind of profit. Especially when half the group had already visited a similar place the previous day (textile center). I also consider that excessive time is wasted in picking up and transferring tourists to the various hotels (about 1 hour), rather than having a common hotel for everyone.
This tour we loved, the best has been the archaeological site of Ollantaytambo and Chinchero. Also the visit to the community of weavers has been very interesting. But I think the Yucay Museum can be taken off the tour, it did not bring us anything new to what we had already been seeing and learning from the Inca culture. Lunch was very good and complete. I highlight our Guide Saul, a very polite person with a lot of knowledge of the history of the place.
Very little time to visit historical places, spending too much in alpaca wool stores that do not contribute anything.
Good and educational experience. Tourist guide knowledgeable about the areas visited and explained in a simple way. The only thing that the Agency must coordinate is for one of its employees to accompany us in the process of boarding the train to Machupicchu. Our experience was not good on boarding.
The organization was impeccable, they met the schedules, the delicious lunch in a beautiful hotel and the accompaniment of the guide Larry, very generous with his stories, experiences and friendliness.
Spectacular views! The Peruvian culture is very rich told by excellent guides, they took us to a hotel for lunch that was very good!
Our guide and driver were friendly, knowledgable & on-time. We all enjoyed this tour very much and highly recommend LimaTours.
