Description

Meteora were named after St. Athanasios the Meteority, proprietor of the Big Meteorou Church. Since 1988, the monasteries of Meteora have a position on the UNESCO’s global heritage monuments catalogue. Built on the top of the rocks, in a high that reaches the 400 meters, Meteora are considered to be one of the greatest creations of nature, and one of the most important monuments of the Orthodoxy. Today, only 7 of the historical monasteries are being used, 6 from which are open to the public, which are: • The Anapausa Monastery • The Rusanu Monastery • The “Big Meteoro” Monastery • The Varlaam Monastery • The Agia Triada Monastery • The Agios Stefanos Monastery

We will pick you up from your hotel in Thessaloniki at 08.30, and will we follow the road towards Meteora, that will take approximately 3 hours until we get there. If you like we can make a short stop at the town of Trikala, for a coffee break next to Litheos River, and afterwards we start visits the monasteries of Meteora. This wonderful tour will be completed at the picturesque villages of Kalambaka or Kastraki, where you can have optional a traditional Greek lunch! Afterwards, we will return at Halkidiki. The duration of this tours is about 8-10 hours as Meteora is approximately 260 kilometers away from Thessaloniki.(depending the Hotel)

Amazing view of religious history.

Ability to visit a majority of the sites and have a car available. No need to wait on others. Also had driver who provided insights on the road and while visiting the Agia. This was an awesome visit.
