If you can’t paddle in current don’t go

Needs better itinerary after booking. No usable itinerary after booking. Should list River shoes, wear swimsuit as no place to change in El Yunque, not advised for people with arthritis, also when you say 5 years plus it suggests beginner. Also bay has strong current through mangroves and difficult for non kayakers. Younger were fine but not recommended for older unless in tip top shape with no joint issues. Tour operator blamed Viator about itinerary. I couldn’t get I touch with anyone via numbers listed either. Tour operator offered $30 per person back since bioluminescence has left and did advise before trip but haven’t seen that credit yet. Also Luquillo was a bit long. Again better itinerary would have helped. Luquillo Beach is very busy and fun if you like music blasting. Very hot and humid on day we went and no decent restroom facilities unless you eat somewhere.

Magical Night Kayaking & Amazing Guide (with a few logistics notes)

The Good: The night kayaking at the Bioluminescent Bay was incredible! Seeing the water glow with every paddle stroke was truly magical. A huge shoutout to our guides: Rafael, our rainforest guide, was very warm and informative, sharing great insights about the ecosystem. Eric, our kayaking guide, was also fantastic—incredibly helpful, kind, and made sure everyone felt safe navigating the bay. Areas for Improvement: I did the full-day trip, and there are a few things that could be improved for a better experience: Rainforest walk: I expected the walk to be a bit longer and go deeper into the forest to explore more of the nature. It felt a bit short. Scheduling/Pacing: There was a very long wait after the rainforest and beach portions before the kayaking began. It would be helpful to inform full-day customers about this long gap in advance so they can prepare. The time at the beach felt a bit too long given the downtime that followed. Overall: The kayaking itself and the quality of the guides were 5-star! If you don't mind a bit of waiting during the day, the guides will definitely make the experience worth it.

Loved the Island tour

Great tour for the full day (9 am to 10 pm) visiting the rain forest, a waterfall, a high tower with beautiful views, Luquillo beach which is authentic and has lots of bars, restaurants and shops. We also enjoyed kayaking under the moonlight and even got to see bioluminescence but under a tarp because of the full moon.

Puerto Rico day trip

If you want to see the waterfalls this is not the trip. Lots of food kiosks with local Puerto Rican food to choose from at Luquillo Beach. Bio bay night kayaking is very dark so tricky to maneuver through the water.

3 in 1 trip

The rainforest was amazing! Our guide was phenomenal! The drop off at Luquillo kiosk & beach was just ok. The food was great but the beach was a party beach. Trash & no where to rinse off. The kayaking was fun, but no where near bioluminescent unless u put a tarp over ur head and could kind of see sparks. The time in between events was a little long, but we enjoyed all the staff and the experience! Bring sunscreen & bug spray!

Terrible experience the Yunque and 6 hours at Luquillo. Kayaking was amazing.

My experience with the El Yunque tour was disappointing overall. The visit to the rainforest was extremely short and simple—nothing like the pictures or descriptions shown in the promotion. Then the driver dropped us off at Luquillo Beach at 12:20 p.m. without any explanation and simply left us there. We were not informed that we would have to cover extra costs to rent a beach chair and umbrella, which was an unexpected expense. To make things worse, the driver came back 59 minutes late to pick us up, and we had to wait another 15 minutes for all the other passengers to arrive. Almost 6 Hours at the beach was terrible experience. The kayaking activity was the only part of the tour that was truly amazing. As for the “snacks included” in the package, they were just a small bag of Lays chips—which is unacceptable considering the price we paid for the tour. In summary, the service did not match what was advertised. There was very poor communication, disorganization, hidden costs, and an overall lack of professionalism. Only the kayaking experience met expectations. I would not recommend this tour in its form.

Operator response

This tour consists of three parts—El Yunque Rainforest, Luquillo Beach, and the Bioluminescent Bay. Guests who prefer more time in the rainforest may find our standalone rainforest tour a better fit, as the trio tour is designed to balance time across all three experiences. We encourage all guests to listen carefully to the tour guide’s instructions and ask questions during the tour to avoid any confusion about schedules or inclusions. Any purchases made outside of the included tour services—such as beach chair or umbrella rentals, souvenirs, drinks, or water activities—are personal expenses and not covered by the tour price. This is standard across the industry and separate from the services provided by our company or the cruise line.

What a day!

What a day! We left our hotel at 8:30 and got back at 9:45. We packed so much into that day. Raphael was great! We had a second driver for the Bio Bay (can't recall his name) but at the end of the night dropped my daughter and I off closer to our hotel so we didn't have to walk our 20 minutes back to hotel.

Great Puerto Rico Tour!

Loved this tour to El Yunque, Luquillo Beach, and the bio bay! The rainforest hike was super chill and perfect for beginners. So many great food options at the Luquillo kiosks—come hungry! The bio bay was amazing to see, but bring lots of bug spray—the mosquitoes were intense. Overall, an awesome experience!
