Great guide. Pooja was a very knowledgeable and relaxed guide. We visited interesting places and the food was very good. 4/5 five points because it is advertised as a whole day tour but only last shortly past lunch.
Had a really nice time on the tour with my guide, Preetam. He was super friendly and we spoke for ages about loads of different topics - was awesome getting to know him. As for the tour, it felt really nice to get outside of Bangalore and see a bit of the countryside. Nandi Hills were beautiful and cycling around them and going through Nandi Village was just a very fun experience. This trip didn't feel so much of a "grand adventure," as it did a nice day out - which is exactly what I was looking for. The cycling wasn't overly strenuous and the stops in the village and at the temple were both worth the visit. Would definitely recommend if you're looking to do something fun and outside the city but would look elsewhere if you're looking for immaculate sightseeing/breathtaking bits of nature. P.S. if you book directly with Unventured you may be able to save money than by paying through TripAdvisor.
Hi, Thank you for sharing your experience! We’re glad you enjoyed the ride around Nandi Hills and the chance to explore the countryside outside Bangalore. It’s wonderful to hear that the tour offered the relaxed and enjoyable day out you were looking for. We truly appreciate your recommendation and hope to host you again on another Unventured experience!
Lohit guided us on a great tour of the Nandi foothills to see a fascinating silkworm farm and thread spinning factory. We also toured a clay tandoori pot maker which was very interesting, as well as an old British train station. The temple we visited was closed for the day but we didn’t mind that so much as the complex was interesting. Lohit was a nice person to get to know. Our main complaint was that Lohit proceeded at a faster pace than we desired as we wanted to take in the sights etc. At one point he was completely out of sight when we needed to stop, which was a bit disconcerting being in an unknown area. He later explained that his intend was just to show us the way and we could proceed at our pace, but that should have been made clear at the outset. As a guide I would expect that his top concern would be the well being of his riders which at times he seemed oblivious to. The bikes were overall in decent shape but the shifting could have been refined a bit. My wife’s bike rubbed in some gears and mine didn’t shift smoothly often requiring multiple clicks to shift gears. We also adjusted our own seat heights which was fine, but I didn’t get the impression that he was a knowledgeable bike mechanic. There is also some conflicting info regarding how long the tour is. Take note that an hour travel time is required to get to the starting point by car and then back again. So overall a fun day with many interesting sites where we learned a lot and saw many new things. Addressing some of the items I noted would make this experience better.
Absolutely exceeded my expectations! I had no idea we would see how locals live their lives. Sunil, who was fabulous, took me to a local Pottery maker- I was able to meet the family too. So wonderful. I saw how silk is made- even saw silk worms. We went to Hindu Temple and I was lucky enough to see a ceremony! The country side is beautiful. Can’t recommend this tour and Sunil enough!
Hi, Thank you so much for this heartfelt review! We’re absolutely delighted that the experience exceeded your expectations. It’s wonderful to hear how meaningful your interactions were — from meeting the pottery-making family to witnessing the silk-making process and a temple ceremony. We truly appreciate your kind words and recommendation, and we hope to welcome you back for another enriching journey soon!
Had a great time exploring together with Sunil! Knowledgeable, very friendly and a great guide!
Hi, Thank you for your kind words. We're delighted to hear you had a great time exploring and enjoyed the experience. It’s wonderful to know the tour was engaging and memorable. We hope to welcome you again soon.
This was a great trip. It’s about 20km cycling with a hill at the end and lots of rest/places to see in route. The temple is amazing. My guide Sunil was excellent: engaging, friendly and considerate.
Hi, Thank you for your wonderful feedback. We're glad you enjoyed the cycling route and the temple experience along the way. It’s great to know the journey felt engaging and comfortable throughout. We truly appreciate your kind words and hope to welcome you again for another ride soon.
What a great way to explore the scenery and living outside of Bangalore, and a well curated trip. Beautiful setting, great weather. We stopped and saw cottage industry silk - from worms to cocoons to thread. We stumbled upon a wedding ceremony at the temple, and got to try pottery making. Opted for an off-road excursion through a village to a remote train station. Some friends had warned me how steep the big Nandi Hill is, but this tour went around, was mostly flat, and very manageable on bike. Midhu is a Rock Star guide - so knowledgeable and passionate about the history, the people, the nature. And a gifted storyteller! The food was great too. Highly recommend!
Hi, Thank you for your wonderful feedback! We’re thrilled you enjoyed the Nandi Cycling Tour, the local experiences, and Midhu’s engaging storytelling. We’re so glad it was a memorable experience and would be happy to host you again on your future visits!
This was a great experience: The guide was knowledgeable about the area and the culture, the food and facilities were excellent, the country side was beautiful. But the listing should definitely have more information about the biking route. At the very least, as a cycling tour, you should be able to present the following information beforehand: recommended attire, make and model of the bikes used, overall distance covered, elevation, types of surfaces, and whether or not there will be cars. Additionally, the guide should have basic bike tools in their pack. We had a support car, which was great, but minor problems like tire punctures should be solvable without having to wait for rescue.
Hi Paul, Thank you for sharing your detailed feedback and for joining us on this cycling experience. We are pleased to know that you appreciated the cultural insights, food, and the scenic countryside during the tour. We acknowledge your observations regarding the biking route details and preparedness. The relevant route information — including total distance, elevation, surface type, and recommended attire — is already mentioned on our website. Our tour leaders are equipped with essential bike repair tools and a first-aid medical kit, and a thorough inspection of all bikes, including tyres, is conducted prior to every tour to ensure safety standards are met. We appreciate your comments about on-ground readiness and will continue to strengthen both our pre-tour communication and operational checks. Thank you once again for choosing to travel with Unventured. We look forward to hosting you on another experience in the future.
Best parts of the trip were learning from Ajith about the sites we visited and also the biking part as good exercise. I would have liked confirming with local workers that the silk making sites are operational as they were both empty when we went.
Hi Victor, Thank you for choosing to journey with us into Bangalore’s countryside. We’re so glad to hear you enjoyed cycling and Ajith’s storytelling—it means a lot to us. We also want to acknowledge your disappointment about the silk weaving units being closed. You’re right—we should have confirmed in advance and communicated this with you upfront. These are living, breathing community-run enterprises, and while they rarely close, the seasonal, weather related nature of silk rearing and some unexpected emergency with the weavers made them unavailable that day. At Unventured, we believe travel should be immersive, authentic, and rooted in respect—for our guests and the communities we engage with. They are not tourism based entities but they enjoy sharing their craft with Unventured travellers. This experience has reminded us of the importance of better anticipating these realities and proactively sharing them with our guests. Your feedback helps us get better at honoring that promise. We’re already taking steps to ensure this doesn’t happen again. Thank you for speaking up with honesty and kindness—it helps us build better journeys.
My friends and I had an absolute blast biking around Nandi Hills. Ajith was the ultimate guide and taught us so much! We are visiting from the US so learning so many things in such a sort amount of time can feel overwhelming, but Ajith explained everything at every stop on the tour in such a fascinating, easy to digest way. It was truly our pleasure to have him as our guide and be able to ask so many questions. He really leaned in to everything we were most interested in doing and hearing about. The cycling was a blast, the breakfast and lunch were delicious, and the scenery was beautiful!
Hi Breanna, Thank you for your wonderful review! We're thrilled that you and your friends had a fantastic time biking around Nandi Hills with Ajith. It’s great to hear that his insights made the experience engaging and enjoyable. We appreciate your kind words and hope to see you on another adventure soon!
