An absolute must for a visit, not just the monasteries, the area is magnificent. But you should drive there with your own car. The buses only stop for a short time and it's more of a rush. Even a three-hour drive from Thessaloniki or Chalkidiki is worth it.
Dear valuable guest, Thank you for sharing your feedback on your recent visit to the monasteries with Cretan Holidays. We're thrilled to hear that you were captivated by the sheer beauty of the area, and we couldn't agree more that it is truly a magnificent place. Moreover, it's worth noting that these monasteries are not only stunning but also hold significant cultural and historical importance. While our bus tours aim to provide a comprehensive glimpse of this remarkable area, we also understand the desire for more extended stops to fully appreciate the surroundings. Our tours are designed to strike a balance between showcasing key highlights and offering opportunities for exploration, and we appreciate your valuable feedback regarding the length of stops. Thank you very much and we hope to see you again soon!
This was an amazing day….very long day so be prepared for lengthy travel but very comfortable and honestly well worth the long hours!! I’ve never been anywhere quite like this before and is truly breathtaking and very spiritual The extra added experience for me personally was the trip too the toilet 🚻 I stupidly wore trousers leg jumpsuit so had too wear scarf like a skirt as the monasteries have strict dress codes and accompanying my makeshift skirt was my cardigan This was not good when tackling the Turkish style toilet 🚽🤦♀️ I would suggest researching what attire is suitable before going BUT 100% well worth it and would certainly go again The guide and drivers (as we had multiple) we great and the company Cretan were always keeping me informed and any little thing I could message them I also made some amazing friends on this trip which was an extra added bonus Certainly put this on your to-do list

The visit of Meteora was amazing. Pick-up in the morning was well organized thru satellite taxis, which brought people to the bus. Same for the way back. Everyone was punctual and reliable. There were lots of nice photo opportunities. The area of Meteora was sensational. The two visited monasteries were very well kept. The guides were very informed about history and art. It was a multi-lingual tour in English, French and Italian. Although there wasn’t a German guide on the tour, the guide for Italians (Dimitra) spoke German as well and gave her best to explain things in German, too. She was great. Lunch break was optional, which is always good when people come from different backgrounds. There were enough comfort stops. The souvenir shops at the monasteries are quite good. There is really no need to buy anything on the road. You can borrow a long skirt at the monasteries- no need to buy one if you forgot!

A great experience! I couldn't stop shooting and we even stayed a day longer than planned to go up again. Very special!
Dear wlmpete, Indeed, Meteora is an amazing place. The monasteries and the huge rocks create an amazing landscape that definitely deserves a visit! Thank you very much for your excellent review and we hope to see you again soon!"
They are a wonder that is not lost, it is not a destination to do hit and run, I would say that ideal would be to stay 3/4 days. Although tiring, it deserves to climb and enter not all but at least a couple of monasteries, Gran Meteoras above all. Spectacular to admire at sunset the suggestive view. I carry this destination in my heart, reached by motorbike and completed with a blitz in Turkey in Cappadocia. Unrepeatable experience.
Dear Paolo, Your review really made our day! Indeed, Meteora is an amazing place that anyone should definitely visit at least once. We are really happy that we were part of your unrepeatable experience. Once again, thank you very much for your excellent review, and we hope to see you again soon!
