Itinerary
Starting from your hotel we head to “Potamies” an Authentic Cretan village.There we will make our first stop, in a traditional mitato where we will meet a local shepherd with his family. We will see how the cheese is made after first milking the milk from the goats and then we will learn how the flour is made in the traditional herromily. Those who wish can taste from the traditional products of the shepherd, such as cheese, raki and oil.
Wandering among the gardens of the village with the fresh fruits and vegetables of the season and the aromas we will reach the dam of Aposelemis, the largest water supply project in Crete. The village of Sfendili is submerged in the waters of the dam with its impressive old houses fading on the surface of the water.
We continue, for perhaps the most representative village of Crete, Avdou. Characteristic of the settlement, all the buildings preserved and with signs with all the information about how the village was shaped then.
Then we will start our ascent using dirt roads, we will pass through the gorge Of “Ebassas”. The view of the imposing mountains and the wild beauty of nature will reward you. At the short stop, the guide will collect various local herbs (oregano, thyme, sage) as the Cretans used to do.
These stone structures fitted with white sails turned with the wind and drew water from the ground to irrigate the crops. During its heydays, Lasithi Plateau had over 10,000 windmills
It's time for the cooking classes from local professionals. Participation in the preparation of dishes from pure ingredients and local products. Get ready to feel the aromas of herbs and taste the unique Cretan products as you cook with us!
Visit to a pottery workshop for the secrets of ceramic art as well as participate in the course for the creation of your own ceramics! Lassithi Plateau, hospitable place and embraced by authentic people.
Time for a tour of the Plateau and contact with its inhabitants. Stop at the local cafeteria. Optional coffee or walk on the allies of the old village.
Now it is time to enjoy the food baked in a wood oven in one of the best traditional restaurants. Flavors , aromas and good local wine!
After this delicious lunch, it is the time to see the monumental plane tree of the village. Its square is dominated by the aqueduct of the 18th century and the imposing centuries-old plane trees and the oldest plane tree of Crete that is over 2000 years old!
We end our day with a tour of an olive oil mill and learning how to export olive oil. A small taste test will follow!

Not quite the route as advertised and it looks like I was bolted on to another tour experience. Cooking lesson and ceramics lesson could have been more involved but still had a great time with the tour guide.
We had a wonderful experience on the safari thanks to our guide Michel. A very friendly person, showing a lot of kindness to both children and adults. Michel has a wealth of knowledge that he shared with us throughout the day during all the stops. This day was more than successful thanks to our guide, who also brought good humor and a pleasant atmosphere through music and constructive exchanges. I recommend this safari to everyone with guide Michel.

The overall experience was amazing what a brilliant day out worth every euro they ask for and more the views u get to see along the was was breath taking stunning view great stop of points and it was a full day from 9am til 5pm the staff was great my driver tour guide christos was the man he new his stuff but he had a great sense of humour there was 8 people on my tour so ni e small group so it give u more time to speak and ask questions of christos would highly recommend

This was an amazing experience, what made this trip exceptional was our driver/guide Matt!! This guy was great, very friendly, knowledgable and detailed about things we came across on the tour. I would come do another trip with Safari only if Matt was our driver/guide. Thank you Matt!!
We had such a good time! Nikos was a wonderful guide and driver. We got to listen to some great music as we drove up the mountains towards Zeus’ cave. We also all rotated seats within the jeep to get the full off-roading experience. The cave was closed because it was a Thursday so we took a nice respite at a local cafe instead. The cooking and pottery lessons were real highlights. We got to learn how the dishes were properly prepared before enjoying a lovely lunch. We also got a chance to make our own pottery when we visited the shop! It was a great day overall.
We had a great experience! Mike was our tour guide. He was excellent! He provided so much information. He was very personable. We really enjoyed him. The stops we made were so unique from the goat farm to the small villages to our food demonstration and deli our lunch. I would highly recommend this tour
We went on the Cretan Life tour yesterday which was brilliant from start to finish. Nikos our driver was on time for our collection, was extremely knowledgeable and funny. He made everyone on the jeep feel involved and answered any questions we all had. The experience itself was a real mix of activities from milking goats, trying our hand at pottery, visiting a 200 year old plane tree, cooking lesson and visiting a local olive oil factory. It was a way of seeing the beautiful island of Crete with local knowledge to go with it. By going on a 4x4 we got to go on routes that only a 4x4 could handle which was really fun and bouncy!! We recommend this to anyone young or old.
