Itinerary
The most magnificent landscape around Göreme has been formed from its solidified lava streams, its ash and tuff stone, all dating from Neocene period. It is criss-crossed by deep valleys formed by heavy erosion. This veritable lunar landscape distinguishes itself by its extensive geological formations. The highly typical morphological structures of Cappadocia are the result of thousands of years of continual erosion, which has shaped the tuff deposits into the strangest pyramids and cones.
Lying in south central Turkey, the moonscaped region of Cappadocia, southeast of Ankara, is most famous for unique geological features called fairy chimneys. The large, cone-like formations were created over time by erosion of the relatively soft volcanic ash around them. Past cultures have dug into them to create dwellings, castles (like Uchisar) and even entire underground cities like Kaymakli and Derinkuyu, used as hiding places by early Christians. Nearby Kayseri is the gateway to the area.
The Goreme Open-Air Museum resembles a vast monastic complex composed of scores of refectory monasteries placed side-by-side, each with its own fantastic church. It is obviously the first sight to be visited by any traveler in Cappadocia, standing as it does in the very center of the region with easy access from all directions.
underground city is built under the hill known as the Citadel and was opened to visitors in 1964. The people of ozkonak (Enegup in Greek) village have constructed their houses around nearly one hundred tunnels of the underground city. The inhabitants of the region still use the most convenient places in the tunnels as cellars, storage areas and stables, which they access through their courtyards. The ozkonak Underground City has low, narrow and sloping passages. While the underground city consists of 8 floors below ground, only 4 of them are open to the public today, in which the spaces are organized around ventilation shafts.
Pasabag in Cappadocia is located on the road to Zelve, coming from Goreme or Avanos. Highly remarkable earth pillars can be seen here, in the middle of a vineyard, hence the name of the place which means: the Pacha's vineyard. Pacha means "General", the military rank, in Turkish and it is a very common nick name. This site is also called Monks Valley. The name was derived from some cones carved in tuff stones which stand apart. Currently, there is a vineyard and a number of tuff cones standing right next to the road.
Avanos is a town in centre of Cappadocia and famous for pottery making we will make a stop in one of the pottery workshop and you will watch pottery demonstration also you can try yourself as well
Pigeon Valley is a popular tourist destination located in the Cappadocia region of Turkey. The valley is known for its beautiful scenery, rock-cut dovecotes, and hiking trails. Some of the highlights of Pigeon Valley include: Rock-cut dovecotes: The valley is known for its rock-cut dovecotes, which were carved out of the soft volcanic rock by ancient people. These dovecotes were used to raise pigeons for food, and they are a unique feature of the valley. Visitors can see the dovecotes and learn about the traditional way of life in Cappadocia. It's my first time in Cappadocia and I would like to say I was really impressed by how the guide Ali, described every place in detail. It was very clear and interesting. It was worth!! The price is considerably good.
Excellent tour, value for money and Ali was great as a guide
Saw some amazing sites, great mix, really interesting and beautiful. Guide was great, lots of facts, loved personal touch of local insights. Kept a good pace throughout. Only complaint, there were too many sales heavy stops - but was still good to see the crafts people

Tugba was our tour guide and was amazing. Being able to see all the sites and getting to them via a van with air conditioner was a must in this heat wave. Worth every minute. Highly recommend this red tour over the green tour if you are not into hiking long distances in the heat. The buffet we stopped at for lunch was super delicious!

Meeting Mr. Sulaiman was one of the highlights of our trip to Cappadocia. He left a university career to follow his passion for becoming a local tour guide while working hard to support and raise his younger daughter. That alone speaks volumes about the kind of person he is. Born and raised in Cappadocia, his knowledge of the region is simply incredible. Every place, every story, and every hidden corner came alive through his explanations. He is humble, kind, respectful, down to earth, and genuinely cares about the people he meets. It felt like exploring Cappadocia with a friend rather than just a guide. Thank you, Mr. Sulaiman, for giving us memories that will stay with us for a lifetime. Our conversations, your stories, and your passion made this trip truly special. If you’re looking for a freelance guide in Cappadocia, I couldn’t recommend him more highly. He deserves all the recognition and success that comes his way. We hope our paths cross again someday. Until then, good luck and thank you for everything!
Thank you, Uday! We’re truly touched by your heartfelt words about Mr. Sulaiman. His passion, humility, and deep knowledge of Cappadocia make every journey special, and it’s wonderful you felt like exploring with a friend. Your appreciation means a lot to Moira Travel, and we hope to welcome you again!
