Along with Tikal and Calakmul, Palenque was one of the most powerful cities of the Classic Maya, seat of one of the most notable dynasties to which Pakal belongs, whose tomb was discovered in 1952 by the archaeologist Alberto Ruz L'Huillier. Like all Classic Maya cities, Palenque was related to others through commercial exchange networks or alliances between groups of rulers. The territory was organized from the existence of city-states, whose centers have been identified by the presence of the so-called emblem glyph, but the basis of this organization: exchange, alliances and of course war, supposes a constant mobility of the same. But the hieroglyphic inscriptions not only offer the identification of the site, they also give account of the matrimonial and political alliances and the warlike situations between cities. The Mayan inscriptions have been widely studied as one of the first manifestations of writing in Mesoamerica.

Long day but went fast as there is a lot to see and do. Driver on time, comfortable van with ac. Stop for lunch if wanted around 3:30pm buffet 170 pesos. Well worth the time. Also stopped in the morning for breakfast if wanted(30 min).
It has been a pleasure serving you, we are at your service
Pros: The Cascadas de Agua Azul were breathtaking. You can go swimming there (almost) anywhere, without a life jacket or anything else. Pure Nature ;-) Even if it is a Touri hot spot, people spread out well due to the size of the waterfall! Misol-Ha is also a beautiful waterfall. You can go through the back but that's it. Swimming only with Life Jacket. We have spared ourselves the guidance of the zona arqueologica of Palenque, but certainly worth knowing for history-lovers. Guided tour of the Jungle was also very interesting, takes about 20 minutes. Cons: we drove away from San Cristobal, which was about 4h from the first stop. The road there is pure horror. For people who get nauseous quickly when driving, NOT recommended;-) The heat in Palenque was hard to bear.. so preferably 2. Change clothes to take with you! Return total 5h! You sit on the bus for a long time and the day is exhausting. But definitely worth seeing!!!
The places we stopped at were truly incredible - swimming at Agua Azul was a real highlight. My main point of concern is that the driver we had was simply awful. We were squeezed into the front two seats of a tiny minibus where I didn't have a proper seatbelt, but any time I slid towards him he elbowed me in the side. He also complained a lot throughout the trip, went stupidly fast down winding mountain roads, and continuously ate snacks with his mouth open and spat food everywhere. Honestly, if it weren't for him, the trip would have been perfect.
Lamentamos mucho la actitud del chofer y trabajaremos para que esto no vuelva a suceder. Que tenga un excelente dia.-
The places to visit are great, especially palenque. However, there was no punctuality in the pick up, nor in the meeting points in the visits. The driver was driving very badly. Eye: You spend more time in the van than in the places to visit
Muchas gracias
