From Tavira: Benagil Hiking Cliffs and the 4 Treasure Experience

We did the Benagil Hiking Cliffs and 4 Treasure Experience from Tavira and it was hands down one of the highlights of our trip. Our guide Claire was fantastic — she took us to all the classic hot spots along the cliffs but also knew a string of secret spots most tours miss. Her knowledge of the area was excellent and she made the whole day genuinely fun. The route itself is stunning: clifftop walks above Praia da Marinha, views into Benagil Cave from above, the carved-out coves at Algar Seco, and the little clifftop chapel and tunnel near Praia da Senhora da Rocha. Every stop felt worth the time. Small group, well organised, and comfortable van between stops. If you’re after an active day that mixes hiking, history, and incredible scenery, this tour delivers — and ask for Claire if you can!

We (together with a couple from France) first went for a ride to the destination Benagil through a hilly landscape with lots of greenery, beautiful field flowers and mandarin and lemon trees. Once there, we started with an impressive walk through valleys with many caves that are millions of years old with the sound of sparkling seawater! Our guide this day was a nice english woman (Claire) who knew her way around and there was regular stops and she gave us background information and there was time to take some pictures. We also visited a historic chapel and there was also free time for lunch, lying on the beach or going into the sea, but also time for snorkeling (is included in the cost of the excursion), which was a special experience for me. Overall a successful day with many thanks to Claire!
