Itinerary

Pass by

During "The Godfather" tour, starting from Taormina, you will walk along the authentic picturesque streets of Savoca and Forza d'Agro remained unchanged since the movie was made, visit ancient churches, famous Bar Vitelli where Michael Corleone asked Apollonia's father her hand in marriage, church where they married, and other movie locations. Later, you will enjoy a traditional lunch, consisting of locally produced cheeses, salami, prosciutto, caponata, parmigiana, olives, extra virgin olive oil and fresh home-made bread and lemon sorbet, while having a with romantic sea view from the terrace.

60 min

First stop is Savoca, an unspoilt medieval town that acted as stand-in for Corleone where Michael was hiding out during the "going to the mattresses" time. You will walk to an ancient church of Santa Lucia, where Michael and Apollonia were married kneeling in the doorway. Then follow the same path down the hill that the newlyweds did, and visit another old church dating back to the 13th century. Walking along the fabulous streets of Savoca, on a good day you can also meet some actors - for example a lady who played Apollonia's mother and who still lives in Savoca. Later, optionally you can visit a family-owned restaurant and at a terrace with romantic sea view taste local Sicilian wines with traditional food (locally produced cheeses, salami, prosciutto, caponata, olives, extra virgin olive oil, fresh home-made bread, home made lemon granita - everything is prepared with organic ingredients of local origin - "km0"!).

Pass by

In Savoca you will visit Bar Vitelli that looks exactly the way it did in the movie, and see the exact spot where Al Pacino informed Apollonia's father that his name was Michael Corleone, and that "there are people who'd pay a lot of money for that information, but then your daughter would lose a father instead of gaining a husband". Here you can take pictures with an authentic Sicilian shotgun "Lupara", see pictures from the movie and a mirror monument for Coppola, enjoy panoramic view of the Mediterranean opening from the square where the wedding ceremony scene was shot, purchase The Godfather souvenirs, and - "leave the gun, take the cannoli" - taste original Sicilian cannoli and lemon granita at Bar Vitelli.

60 min

The tour will continue in Forza d'Agro, another stunning hilltop town with a "Godfather" connection. You will walk the abandoned streets ("Where have all men gone?" - "They're dead from vendettas"), explore the historic square and see the pictures from the movie, visit ancient churches, see the piazza where young Vito Andolini (later Vito Corleone) escaped Don Ciccio's men by hiding in a basket on a donkey's back, walk up to see the remains of a 12th century Norman castle, admire delightful panoramic view of the Ionian coastline, and get a flavour of the Sicilian pastoral lifestyle remained unchanged since ancient times.

Great tour with Omar!!

Omar picked us up at the port and drove us through beautiful areas to get to the 2 hilltop towns where scenes were shot for the Godfather movies. The towns were beautiful with amazing views. We had lunch at one of the restaurants in the second town (which was wonderful) and then drove back to the port. It was such a fun day and Omar knew his stuff. I would highly recommend him and this tour as well.

It’s a great experience...

It’s a great experience for those of us who are familiar with the Godfather movie series. It was fun to walk in the actual settings of the movie. Omar made it extra special and was very attentive to our needs.

Private Godfather Tour experience

Went for The private Godfather Tour and it was truly a memorable experience. If you are a fan of the movie then it is worth a visit. Marco was remarkable. Very detailed, professional and passionate. Took the time to really explain the movie scenes. Lunch was at a quaint little restaurant and the food was just yummy. Overall it was a day well spent.

A tour that you can't refuse

Just home from a fantastic visit to Sicily with my wife and I both agreeing that this tour was the highlight of the trip. Carlo was our driver and guide. He was a friendly, knowledgeable and attentive guide and went the extra mile, quite literally on our behalf. Prestelli tours themselves were flexible in allowing us to personalise the tour and Carlo arranged a specific visit that went above anything we could have hoped for and that i'd describe by just saying it blew us away! The lunch included at Gelso Nero Ristorante in Savoca was lovely too. We were also fortunate to have Carlo the following day when we did the wineries tour and it felt like greeting an old friend. Thank you Carlo from 'Sandro' and Jen

Godfather Tour with lunch

Elena was our private guide. She was extremely knowledgeable. She was passionate about her job and it showed. She was very experienced driving in a highly complex terrain. She shared so many details of sights and locations of the filming of the Godfather. She took her time with us and we didn't feel rushed. Our tour couldn't have been any more perfect.

Our Tour

This tour was one of the highlights of our time in Sicily! Bruno was an incredible guide — knowledgeable, engaging, and genuinely passionate about the history of the area and The Godfather filming locations. He brought the villages of Savoca and Forza d’Agrò to life with great stories about the movie, the real Sicilian history behind it, and local culture. Walking through the same streets where scenes were filmed and visiting Bar Vitelli was such a fun and memorable experience. The views throughout the tour were absolutely stunning, and finishing the day with a delicious Sicilian lunch with appetizers and pasta made it even better. Bruno made the entire day feel relaxed, personal, and truly special. If you’re visiting Taormina and are even a little bit of a Godfather fan, this tour is a must — and if you get Bruno as your guide, you’re in for an amazing experience!

Best tour of our two-weeks in Italy and Sicily!

Marco, our guide for the Godfather tour, was fantastic. We could not have asked for a better day from start to finish. He was not only a wealth of information about the film and set locations but addressed sensitive topics regarding the mafia with respect and sensitivity. Marco was also an excellent and safe driver and went above and beyond to make our day one we will always remember. Thank you, Marco. You are the best!
