The ruins of Pompeii are a vast archaeological site in the southern Campania region, near the coast of the Gulf of Naples. Once a thriving and sophisticated Roman city, Pompeii was buried under meters of ash and pumice after the catastrophic eruption of Vesuvius in 79 A.D. The preserved site features remains of excavated streets and houses that visitors can freely explore.
The Civil Forum is the centre of daily life in the city, on it are all the main public buildings for the administration of the city and justice, for the management of business, for commercial activities, as markets, in addition to the main places of worship in the city.
The Temple of Jupiter dominates the northern side of the Forum, and behind it stands scenographically the Vesuvius. With the deduction of the colony (80 BC) the temple was the subject of a radical remaking and became a real Capitolium, with three statues of worship of Jupiter, Juno and Minerva, imitating those of the Capitolium of Rome, placed on a high base, So that they are visible to those who passed through the square of the Forum.
The Macellum of Pompeii was nothing more than the town market where people could buy groceries. Located north-east of the Forum, the complex had to remain away from the square not to create too much crowding, given the large number of people who certainly frequented it.
"Via dell'Abbondanza" is one of the main streets of the ancient city of Pompeii, in Campania, which connected the Forum with the Amphitheatre.
The Stabiane Baths were built at various times. The initial phase of construction dates back to IV a.c. (the gym with the trapezoid base). The baths that we can admire today were built in the II sec a.c., a period when Pompeii was subjected to a major renovation. In the spa, not only did you take a bath, but you also discussed politics, battles, trials, women.... It was the town hall where the facts of the day were discussed.
The Pompeii Lupanare, with its erotic paintings is one of the most famous buildings of the excavations and had the function of brothel.
After that, jump on board to be transferred to the entrance of Mount Vesuvius at a height of 1000 meters.
Once there with your alpine guide, climb up the crater where you have free time to enjoy the breathtaking view over the Gulf of Naples.
Early in the afternoon, return to Sorrento to your hotel or meeting point.

The hike up to mount Vesuvius should not be skipped. The weather was hot but no matter what just wipe the sweat and keep going the views at the top are worth it
This was a wonderful day trip to Pompeii and Vesuvius. The tour guide at Pompeii was a hilarious local with so much knowledge of the ruins. Followed by a light lunch (no protein) with wine tasting at a local winery. Then the trip to the Vesuvius crater. The only thing to be aware of was if you do the full day tour, you'll be hiking the last part of the volcano (inaccessible by bus) after having had plenty of wine at lunch, so stay hydrated.
We really enjoyed visiting Pompeii. The tour provided lunch at a local olive oil and vineyard farm - it was a lovely setting with delicious food. We then went to Mt Vesuvius- my family enjoyed the climb- the views were amazing. The tour was a great day!
Roberta was an excellent guide. Full of information. Would recommend this tour
Desiree was a fantastic guide and was informative and humerous for the Pomeii visit. Unfortunately the Mt. Vesuvius visit had to be cancelled dou to bad weather but Buyourtour refunded that portion of the cost.
Great day! Tour guide was great, good knowledge of Pompeii (made it come alive through story telling) and was able to guide us around large groups (to avoid waiting in long lines) without feeling that we missed anything. Lunch was good, beautiful grounds and a nice break. Walking up the volcano was very challenging physically, but we found it worth it.

We spent 2 plus hours touring Pompeii with a very knowledgeable guide. There was about 10 in our group. We stopped for lunch at a very nice and reasonably priced restaurant (about 20 euros per person not included) so if you don’t bring a lunch there is an option. The hike to the crater was a bit of a challenge but well worth the effort. It was a very nice tour and a great way to experience two iconic sites.

It is a wonderful day full of adventures- Our Pompeii guide was very experienced and archeological experts. Very busy with cruse ship excursions - worth the adventure. Lunch at the Farmhouse lunch was delicious. Mt Vesuvius was a strenuous hike up for 25 minutes, worth it if physically able.

Well organised trip. All effortless for us. Guide at Pompeii was excellent and very informative. We had another group join ours which made sticking with the guide a bit tricky as it got quite busy difficult
Bus driver, Mario, had crazy skills! Maneuvering all those winding roads & avoiding the daredevil motorcycle drivers was a show itself! Pompeii was nice but our tour guide didn’t offer as many details as other guides we heard provide. We had two teachers in our group who would have enjoyed learning more lesser known history of the site and excavation. We appreciated the stop at the Limoncello shop on the way down from Mt Vesuvius. The owner put on a great presentation and had us try Limoncello with buffalo mozzarella, and it was delicious!
