The site is located in the southern region of Basilicata and consists of the ancient settlement of Matera and the Park of the Rupestrian Churches, which are built into the natural caves of the Murge plateau. Covering an area of 1,016 hectares, this extraordinary and well-preserved troglodytic settlement includes more than a thousand dwellings, along with a remarkable number of shops and commercial establishments.
The trulli of Alberobello in Puglia are famous worldwide and have been a UNESCO World Heritage Site since 1996. Their charm is linked to a mysterious origin, esoteric symbolism, and an incredibly modern eco-sustainable architecture.

The tour guides were excellent and very knowledgeable. The only issue was that the Matera tour finished at 1pm and we had to be on the bus at 1.15pm a short walk away, to travel to Alberobello. This did not allow any time to purchase any lunch/snack or drinks. So be prepared.
The tour of Matera was very interesting and the tour guide was very knowledgeable. It was also a very long tour and a 15 minute water break would have been a plus as it was a warm day. The tour of the Alberobello Trulli homes was nice too. I just feel that Viator should pay the extra money to walk into the home to see the inside.
This was a great tour. A UNESCO listed location and explained perfectly with a great tour guide. Definitely recommend.
The sites are both spectacular and definitely not to be missed when visiting Puglia. . The tour involves a lot of walking which is a bit challenging in the very high summer temperatures. Our transportation was a large bus which had to be parked away from the sites. This added to the walking time. We selected a guided tour but we felt our guide lacked clarity and passion.
Dear guest, Thank you for your feedback. We are delighted that you enjoyed the beauty of the places visited, although we are sorry that the tour did not fully meet your expectations. Due to local regulations and their status as a UNESCO World Heritage Site, large and small buses must park outside the historic areas, which can increase walking time. We will share your comments with our team of guides to improve clarity and engagement in future tours. We hope to have you back for new experiences with us. Best regards, -Erika, Team Pugliamare
Well organised tour of Matera and Alberobello. Special thank you to Grace, who was knowledgeable, friendly and entertaining. We took the guided tour with Grace and would recommend anyone to take this tour.
I had a nice time visiting beautiful amazing sites! A guide was fine but wish she was more enthusiastic energetic. She has a low energy. Overall I definitely recommend it.
We came on at Polignano A Mare, it took more than one hour to pick the other group in Bari. The tour guide did his job trying to optimize the tourist experience, however there were too many people at both location and we didn’t have enough time to do a in depth visit at both sites.
Anxient city and houses was amazing. The streets were easily accessible. We did not see the underground acquaduct system in matera which should have been part of the tour. It plays a vital part of matera’s history

All in all this was a great tour. Our tour guide Francesco was the best guide we've ever had and he truly loved sharing his knowledge with us. We started in Poglinano a mare so it was a really long day with lots of driving and walking. This tour is not for people who can't walk long distances. In hindsight, I think this tour is a bit too long. By the time we got back 10 hours later we were exhausted & wish we'd done each town separately.

Great places to visit, however, not impressed with our tour guide Maria? She was often muddled, had no idea about how to use the audio system which wasted so much time and certainly didn’t read the group as presentation was more for a school group. It was an extremely hot day which was testing. A few walked off on their own and looked around. The bus driver was excellent
