Although the tour itself has been very good, with the guide quite proactive and the proper transportation, there was a delay in the exit. Other than that, everything went well.
Great experience, Matteo the guide was really great. The lagoon hike was lovely we had a lovely older gentleman who needed to go a little slower due to his knees and the altitude but he still managed it no problem. The views at the top were magnificent. The salt mines were also cool to look at. The driver was great, he noticed I was cold on the way home so gave me a blanket for the ride home. It was a super long day there was floods and unavoidable road closures, we were expecting a 12+ hour day due to the reviews and was expecting the lunch restaurant to be expensive from reviews also and all these things were true. Nevertheless it was a worthwhile tour and would recommend to anyone.
Amazing trip, we was group of 3. Mateo helped to translate everything to English and the tour plan is amazing. Lagoon and zipaquira church is must have to visit in Colombia.
Our guide Mateo was very knowledgeable and answered all questions we had. We thoroughly enjoyed our hike up to Guatavita Lagoon. The view was amazing and we learnt about various trees and flowers. We were lucky as the rain held up. But we were prepared in case it should rain and it often does in spurts. Our lunch, typical Columbian smoked meat at a local place in Zipaquira. We really enjoyed that. Sharing was the best option, at Mateo’s suggestion since the dishes are plentiful. Then onto the Salt Cathedral. The Salt Cathedral is something to not miss. We were given two hours there and initially thought it was a lot but we used all 2 hours. This day will be remembered and I highly recommend it
Esteban was a great guide. He was very knowledgeable about the history of the indigenous people of Guatavita. The Salt Cathedral was a wonderful architectural site to be seen.
Esteban is a 10/10 tour guide, he translated everything for us, was really kind, helpful and clear with the itinerary information provided. The views were stunning and we learned so much about the Muisca culture and wisdom. Worth every penny! Thank you, Esteban!
