Itinerary
Where the tour begins and ends
Travel through this rugged mountain canyon, enjoying the steep rock walls and Clear Creek running through and feeling the love of nature.
Visit the Museum and Visitor Center in downtown Idaho Springs. Local mining History, wildlife displays, local souvenirs and clean restrooms.
Just outside of Idaho Springs, Colorado—over 10,000 feet above sea level—lies a pristine alpine lake. While Saint Mary’s Lake is beautiful, most visitors to this area are looking for something a little bit further up the trail: a small, somewhat dirty patch of snow, known as Saint Mary’s Glacier. Wildflowers and windswept trails, boulders and snowfields – these are the disproportionately big rewards for the easy hike up to St Mary’s Glacier. It’s a quick day escape from Denver, and the modest elevation gains, short distance (half-mile) and summer snow and ice make it ideal even for the littlest hikers. Although the area gets fairly busy on summer weekends, the views on a clear day are remarkable, and a scramble around the lake will bring you to the glacier itself.
Enjoy beautiful scenic views of this glacial lake sitting at 10,600 feet on Mount Evans
Breathtakingly beautiful high alpine lake. Enjoy a walk to the lake and down the trail to overlook the Chicago Lakes and valleys below. We often encounter out State Mammal the Bighorn Sheep at this beautiful stop.

Our day in the mountains was the highlight of our week in Denver. The blue sky and the scenery had a lot to do with it but we give a lot of credit to our tour guide Ehron. Some of the mountains on the tour were not accessible that day and Ehron quickly offered new alternatives. We end up going to continental divide, Loveland ski resort while making the scheduled stops in Echo Lakes park and Idaho springs. Ehron is knowledgeable funny friendly and full of enthusiasm for the mountains and nature. He had a brand new phone with better camera than ours so he took most of the pictures that day which he airdropped back to us. Thanks to Barbil tour to have such a tour guide in their staff, he is a star!
I had an absolutely amazing day with Viator and Canyon Travels Mountain Tours! Beautiful, sunny blue skies while touring the canyons of the Front Range mountains of Colorado made for an unforgettable experience. My tour guide, Ehron, was super friendly, fun, and knowledgeable—and we even formed a genuine friendship along the way. I’m so happy I chose Viator for my travel arrangements and will absolutely be coming back to Denver. I’ll be recommending Viator to all my friends. Thank you so much, guys—I’ll see you soon in another part of the world!
