Itinerary
Let us introduce you to the majestic Danube River, a true natural monument. Flowing through ten countries, including ours, this second-longest river in Europe has long been a vital link between nations. Once the dividing line of the mighty Roman Empire, the Danube remains a significant route connecting the edges of the Old Continent. Known as the "old giant," this river has been the birthplace of countless civilizations and cultures, with historical sites along Serbia’s banks serving as a testament to its enduring legacy.
Follow the path of the mighty Danube to your first stop, the Golubac Fortress. Perched on towering cliffs at the river’s widest point, this medieval stronghold enchants visitors with its mystical towers and fairytale-like atmosphere. Climb to one of the fortress’s viewpoints, and you’ll understand why locals claim the Danube resembles the sea from this vantage point. Enjoy breathtaking panoramic views from one of Serbia’s best-preserved fortifications.
Immerse yourself in the serene beauty of Kapetan Mišin Breg, an eco-ethno complex offering spectacular views of the Đerdap Gorge. Named after a revered captain, the site features an open-air gallery, "Man, Wood, Water", showcasing an impressive collection of wooden and stone sculptures.
After a relaxing lunch, set sail through the Iron Gate Gorge, the narrowest and deepest section of the Danube. Marvel at the striking rock carving of Dacian King Decebal and catch a glimpse of the Mraconia Monastery on the Romanian side. Conclude your cruise with a visit to Tabula Traiana, a Roman plaque commemorating Emperor Trajan’s ambitious engineering feat, constructing a road through the gorge’s most challenging terrain.

The tour surpassed our expectations. It was a long ride but our tour guide filled the time with interesting historical facts that made the time fly by.
Over all the trip was very good and our guide Zoran was excellent. However it was a very long drive there and back and it was difficult to hear Zoran while sitting in the back. Fortress was amazing. Lunch excellent and boat trip was very good. However the litter at the boat ramp was disappointing.
its overall ok not great not bad the guide is cool, did his job well. couldve give us more time at the fortress though
Thank you for your honest feedback! We're glad to hear you found the tour overall okay and that you enjoyed the guide—it's great to know he did a good job and brought a positive energy to the experience. We appreciate your note about wanting more time at the fortress. That's valuable input, and we’ll definitely take it into consideration when reviewing and adjusting the itinerary.
The trip was very good, the places we visited were wonderful and the information about facts provided for tour guided were useful.
Long day so be prepared with snacks for morning trip east. Fort Golubac is wonderfully reconstructed. Great lunch!! Iron gates were beautiful though cruise not possible due to weather. Archaeological dig fascinating.
Interesting history about the fortress. Danube gorge is stunning and the boat ride is worth going on.
Everything is good, except the lunch place. I gave the host 2000 RSD, and she gave me 200 RSD change. However, just a few seconds before I was about to leave, she told me I only gave her 1200 RSD (the color for 1000 RSD and 200 RSD are similar). However, clearly remember I have at least 2000 RSD (2 x 1000 RSD ), which I confirmed one day before several times.
Excellent views traveling around the Danube for a day. Our driver/guide Uros was great for giving history and answering any questions.
I went on this tour as a rather last minute decision as I had a spare day in Belgrade and I wasn't disappointed. Tamara was a great guide, giving a good balance of information, humour, and allowing time for us to explore at our own pace too. Golubac is magnificent and Lepenski Vir vastly more fascinating than I had anticipated. The lunch (extra) was superb and home made. I can only imagine this tour in Summer would be even more beautiful along the Danube!
The fortress was well worth seeing and the archaeological site was fascinating and well worth visiting
